American Administration Hopes on Russia's Help to Trace Saddam

US officials would like Russia to share intelligence information with them

US Ambassador to Moscow, Alexander Vershbow, believes Russia could help the USA to stop Saddam's followers from attacking American forces in Iraq by rendering the intelligence information about their possible whereabouts, as well as about the whereabouts of the former Iraqi president and his sons. Vershbow said in a statement the American administration was deeply concerned about continuing attacks against US forces in Iraq. The official added, attacks happen on a small geographic territory near Baghdad - the so-called Sunnite triangle. Vershbow stressed that certain attacks could be described as terrorist ones as many of them were aimed against water and energy supplies infrastructure. "We decided to struggle against those groups - the people, who support Saddam Hussein's regime," the ambassador said. "Russia can render its assistance, I am talking about the intelligence information about their whereabouts, as well as the whereabouts of Saddam Hussein and his sons," emphasized Vershbow. "We do not know, what information Russia has about Hussein and his sons, we do not know, which sources of information Russia might use for that. But we hope that Russia will be sharing such information as our cooperation develops," the ambassador stated.

1. I don't think Russia is very interested
in cooperating by giving us intelligence right now. Pootie-Poot may be thinking about payback for Afghanistan.

4. This is yet another one of those stories...
...that needs to come with its own laugh track.

Russia was telling us all along not to invade Iraq. Russia was calling on us to give the inspectors more time. Russia was a long-time supporter of Saddam Hussein, in order to keep the Islamists at bay. So now, all we have to do is ask, and they're expected to hand him over on a silver platter?
