Roberts defends war but unsure Congress would have supported it
http://www.bayarea.com/mld/mercurynews/news/special_packages/iraq/7103337.htm

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Although he defended the war in Iraq, U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Pat Roberts said Saturday he is not sure Congress would have authorized force based on the evidence it now has about Saddam Hussein's efforts to obtain weapons of mass destruction.

Roberts said he is concerned that U.S. weapons inspectors led by David Kay have not found actual weapons, though Roberts believes Saddam had a weapons program and managed to conceal it.

The Kansas Republican said his committee has not finished a report from its examination of prewar intelligence, contrary to a published article that said the panel is preparing a report highly critical of the intelligence.

Roberts said in a statement Friday that remarks he made to a Washington Post reporter were "mischaracterized" and quipped Saturday, "That means you shouldn't have talked to the reporter."

3. The media should be hounding that snail slime Fleisher
if he has any regrets decieving the American people on the WMD issue. Oh wait, that would presuppose a conscience. Never mind.

2. Will the CIA sit back and allow the Republicans to smear them?
The CIA has the ability if they have any pride in letting the truth be known about this corrupt Republican party, starting with the lying Bush/Cheney pair. Lets see if they take the fall or they stand up like men/women and fight for their integrity against this group.

4. They had that evidence then and they ignored it
The Congress is BSing when they say they didn't know the intelligence was fraudulent. I knew it. Many of us knew it had already been discredited. They surely had access to the same info. They wanted this slaughter because they make lots of money blowing away third world countries.

5. I will be flabbergasted
I will be totally flabbergasted if the CIA lets this falsehood fly. They are already sending the troops out: the insistence the DOJ investigate, the former agents telling the Dems the true story, etc.
