Thatcher questioned in US investigation (DeLay)
Mark Oliver
Monday October 3, 2005

Baroness Thatcher has been questioned as part of a US corruption investigation into one of the Republican party's most senior congressmen, it emerged today.

She was contacted by the Metropolitan police at the request of US authorities investigating congressman Tom DeLay, who she met while he was on a trip to London in May 2000. <snip>

The US justice department is investigating allegations that members of Congress received free luxury foreign holidays in return for seeking to influence legislation.

Mr DeLay has denied that the £40,000 trip to London in 2000 was improperly paid for by a lobbyist. <snip>

2. From the Mirror yesterday....
<It said the request was part of a deception investigation "involving high-profile American and UK-based individuals, including a leading Congressman and former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher". At the centre of the probe is high-profile lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who is already under investigation in the US.>
Bottom of the article....

<Yesterday she was described as "increasingly forgetful and forbidden to speak in public".>

5. Margaret Thatcher asked for Delay details
http://www.sacbee.com/24hour/politics/story/2778919p-11392372c.html

Prosecutors investigating Rep. Tom DeLay have asked former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher for details of a meeting between the two politicians, her spokesman confirmed Tuesday.

Lord Bell said police contacted Thatcher's office to clarify details of a meeting with the Texas Republican in May 2000. He said DeLay had paid Thatcher a courtesy call while he was on a visit to Britain and that she was not involved in wrongdoing.

"Lady Thatcher is visited by many politicians and political figures from around the world," Bell said. "It was not a business meeting."

7. What, is that sleazeball trying to suggest his Scottish golf trip was
actually for the purpose of a BUSINESS meeting with a former PM???

WHAT GALL!!!!!!! He wanted a handkissing pic for the Reaganites, and perhaps an excuse for being in country.

The woman has had a stroke, but she hasn't lost her marbles. I would imagine she is pissed off at him trying to play it that way...
