Bush committed to tax cuts: White House 23 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House on Tuesday played down suggestions from U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow that an effort to make President George W. Bush's tax cuts permanent would be sidelined by the Hurricane Katrina recovery.

"He's saying what we all are -- the Katrina recovery is the top priority, but we remain committed to President Bush's economic program, which has helped create millions of jobs," White House spokesman Trent Duffy said

3. They Don't Care, And That's Scary
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 12:50 PM by Beetwasher
It's obvious that they are not even trying to appear reasonable anymore. Is it because they think their stranglehold on power is unassailable? Is it because they KNOW they will still "win" elections, regardless of what the popular sentiment is in the country? I don't know for sure, but their behavior sure is indicative.

7. You can't expect the wealthy to sacrifice for this disaster
Cuts must come from social programs, that is the only acceptable Republican thing to do.

11. He was committed to Social Security reform too.
It's a waste of time asking bush if he is changing his mind or doing an about face, the answer is always no. Instead, they allow an issue or program that they have make a mistake on to dissolve quietly away.

16. Sigh .. . . who's going to PAY for all of this?
Oh wait, that would be us po' folk.

Far be it from me to ask the "betters" to pay their fair share. That would be "socialism" and "class warfare"; right, Dumbpublicans?

17. Arrogance Will Cost "Em...
This is exactly the kind of arrogant, selfish crap that is going to make the republican party a loser for years to come - beginning in November of 2006.

18. Notice that the wealthy don't even pretend that they're willing to...
...sacrifice ANYTHING during Bush's 'time of war'?

Everyone should know by now that the intention of the Bush RWingers is to bankrupt the US treasury and kill off every last social program still in existance.

Those still naive enough to believe that they can't or won't do it need to be reminded of what they have already 'accomplished' in short four years.

20. Stupid MoFo.
He poses with the people devastated by Katrina, then turns around and totally fucks them over with program cuts. That asshole refuses to repeal the tax cuts for the very wealthiest. Beware posing with Bush for a photo op, something near and dear to you will be cut from the budget. Those assholes have no heart and no shame. I don't give a fuck how much they pimp Laura out for photo ops... they are heartless bastards. :grr:

22. Of course they are. Bankrupting Amerika is their ONLY mission
And they remain committed to the goal, which will in turn reduce the power of the Imperial Subjects of Amerika to an acceptable level:

NONE.

Imperial Amerika is a disgrace of a Third-World Nation, and we haven't even BEGUN to see the badness that is coming.

23. Millions of jobs my ass
Does someone have the real numbers handy? Last I knew it was a net loss of like 300,000 jobs around the election. And Bush's refusal to let go of his lopsides tax cuts shows what his priorities are...dirtbag.

what's another couple hundred billion or so added to the deficit, anyway?

I feel like I've stepped through the looking glass. Up is down, down is up, reality is whatever you say it is in Bushworld.

Nothing must be allowed to thwart the plan...

Will somebody get this moron a calculator? Seriously he's never had to worry about budgeting in his life -- more always magically comes for Mr. Silver McCoke Spoon and the Bush clan, they will be the death of us.
