I'd say Rove is losing his Midas Touch. An article explained how Bush was heading back to Washington just as N. Orleans was drowning.

Poor guy! Sheesh, what a way to disturb one man's peace and quiet.

Anyway, Air Force One was asked to fly over the wreckage. The article said that Rove asked a photographer to go up in the cabin where Bush was seated, looking out the window at the city's last gasps.

Rove released that photo, and it was probably the worst thing he could do. "It made Bush look like a tourist, unable to do anything except watch the devastation. It was one of the most damning photos of his tenure".

HEH HEH....oh, by the way I think Rove is in the hospital with kidney stones. Any connection?

Why doesn't he just stay the fuck away from Louisiana...he annoyed me enough before, but I'm REALLY starting to get pissed off now.

So, is he going back to Louisiana to try and strongarm Blanco again? Is he going to go back to get another blow-job from Nagin? What PURPOSE does the Bush bastard serve, what can he contribute? Why can't he just fuck off?

Talk about OVERKILL, where was the little pissant for FIVE days while people starved and drowned? Now everyone's been evacuated to 24 states, he can't stay away from NOLA...last week when PEOPLE were still there, the little piece of shit was scared to death to set foot in NOLA. Yeah, what a big, brave man he is. Oh yeah, I forgot his private bodyguards Blackwater are there to protect him and his "interests" as well.

I don't trust him and I think he's making ALL of these visits to NOLA to show everybody that Cheney Inc. and the Uptown crowd now OWN NOLA. He's rubbing this in EVERYBODY elses faces.

Satan, get behind Thee.

will either be First Responders, National Guardsmen or any African-Americans that he can con to stand there behind him so he can prove he does care about black people.

It's all about the photo-op!

I won't be watching as it makes me ill just hearing him speak.

26. He wasn't here when it mattered and I don't want him here now
He wasn't here when we had thousand of Louisiana citizens running for their lives from the rising flood waters. He wasn't here when tens of thousands of Louisiana citizens went without food and water for 5 days in the Superdome and streets of New Orleans. He wasn't here when people were dying in hospitals and nursing homes because there was no electricity, food or water to keep them alive until they could be rescued. He wasn't here when the lower parishes were virtually wiped off the map and FEMA never showed up to help. He didn't take the time to care or be interested when thousands were dying...so why should I care what he does now? It's too late. The dead are dead, and they are not ever coming back. The thousands that died are your legacy. What a pathetic human being. All I see is an empty shell, devoid of spirit and compassion, trying to rebuild his reputation and popularity on the bodies of dead people.

27. He's gonna grab some black people who look like preachers
From yesterday's NYT (by Elisabeth Brumiller)

One of Mr. Bush's prominent African-American supporters called the White House to say he was aghast at the images from the president's first trip to the region, on Sept. 2, when Mr. Bush stood next to Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi and Gov. Bob Riley of Alabama, both white Republicans, and praised them for a job well done. Mr. Bush did not go into the heart of New Orleans to meet with black victims.

"I said, 'Grab some black people who look like they might be preachers,' " said the supporter, who asked not to be named because he did not want to be identified as criticizing the White House.Three days later, on Mr. Bush's next trip to the region, the president appeared in Baton Rouge at the side of T. D. Jakes, the conservative African-American television evangelist and the founder of a 30,000-member megachurch in southwest Dallas.

Bishop Jakes, a multimillionaire and best-selling author, is to deliver the sermon this Friday at the Washington National Cathedral, his office said, where Mr. Bush will mark a national day of prayer for Hurricane Katrina's victims. The bishop's style of preaching is black Pentecostal - he roars and rumbles in performances that got him on the cover of Time magazine as "America's best preacher" in 2001. More important to Mr. Rove, he has become a vital partner in the White House effort to court the black vote.

Last week, the White House continued its political recovery effort among African-Americans through its network of conservative black preachers like Bishop Jakes. Many of them have received millions of dollars for their churches through Mr. Bush's initiative to support religious-based social services - a factor, Republicans say, in Mr. Bush's small increase in support among black voters, from 9 percent in 2000 to 11 percent in 2004.

29. Dear Subjects....(what we wish we'd hear)

Good evening.

This is the 6th time I have spoken to you from this office, where so many decisions have been made that shaped the history of this Nation. Each time I have done so to discuss with you some matter that I believe affected my personal interest.

In all the decisions I have made in my sorry-ass life, I have always tried to do what was best for the BFEE. Throughout the long and difficult period of Plamegate and now Katrinagate, I have felt it was my duty to cut and run, to make every possible effort to ditch the term of office to which I elected myself.

In the past few days, however, it has become evident to me that I no longer have a strong enough political base on the face of the earth to justify continuing that effort. As long as there was such a base, I felt strongly that it was necessary to see the constitutional process through to its conclusion, that to do otherwise would be unfaithful to the spirit of that deliberately difficult process of SCOTUS selecting me over that Al Gore dimwit.

But with the disappearance of my meager base, I now believe that the constitutional purpose has been served, and there is no longer a need for the process to be prolonged.

I would have preferred to stay in Crawford to the finish my vacation, whatever the personal agony it would have involved, and my family unanimously urged me to do so. But Daddy told me that the interest of the Nation must always come before any personal considerations, dammit to hell.

From the discussions I have had with Congressional and other leaders, I have concluded that because of Katrinagate matter I might not have the support of the Congress that I would consider necessary to back the very difficult decisions and carry out the raping of this nation the way that the BFEE would require.

I have always been a quitter. To leave office before my term is completed is affable to every instinct in my body. But as President, I must put the interest of me first. America needs a full-time President and a full-time Congress, particularly at this time with problems we face at home and abroad. I simply want to chop wood.

To continue to fight through the months ahead for my personal vindication would almost totally absorb the time and attention of both the President and the Congress in a period when our entire focus should be on the great issues of peace abroad and prosperity without inflation at home.

Therefore, I shall resign the Presidency effective at noon tomorrow. Vice President Kerry will be sworn in as President at that hour in this office. Oh yeah, we forgot to tell you Dick is dead.

As I recall the high hopes for the BFEE with which we began this second term, I feel a great sadness that I will not be here in this office working on our behalf to achieve those hopes in the next 2 1/2 years. But in turning over direction of the Government to Vice President Kerry, I know, as I told the Nation when I debated him for that office 10 months ago, that the leadership of America will be in good hands.

Sayonara.

37. How many times will he invoke 9-11?
"We were attacked on 9-11, and that made me appoint an idiot to head up FEMA and Homeland Security."

"Our National Gaurd was fighting evildoers in Iraq because we were attacked on 9-11, so we let you people drown."

"The true enemy here is those who attacked us on 9-11. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth, and kill them extra hard for the damage Katrina did."

"Katrina was the third man in charge of Al-Queda on 9-11."

"God punished New Orleans for voting for Kerry, even after 9-11."

Bush thinks 9-11 is 7-11. He finds one on every corner.

38. Bush to address US amid new questions

By Kieran Murray 6 minutes ago

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - The discovery of 45 bodies in an abandoned hospital in New Orleans raised new questions about the government's response to Hurricane Katrina on Tuesday as President George W. Bush scheduled his first national address since the disaster.

The bodies were discovered at the Memorial Medical Center on Monday, the same day Bush toured the city. They raised the official death toll from the August 29 storm above 500 and officials said some may have died while waiting for help that did not arrive for several days after the hurricane.

The White House said Bush would address the nation from Louisiana on Thursday evening. Facing heavy criticism and the lowest approval ratings of his presidency, Bush has visited the Gulf coast three times in the past two weeks, most recently on Monday when he toured New Orleans in a flat bed truck.

"The president will talk to the American people about the recovery and the way forward on the longer-term rebuilding," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters.

48. They are so good at controlling the press. The MSM are so desperate
to hear anything out of chimp, they cover his every appearance. By not allowing press conferences, by not allowing access, they leave the press begging for information. They are being duped and don't even get it. If they really want to get the story, if they want press conferences, they should just stop covering him unless it's actual news.

57. This is EXACTLY why we continue to lose. Controlling the press is key.
Until Dems become as savvy as the Repukes in controlling their message and the media, we will continue to get our asses kicked. And, I call a big BULLSHIT on the argument that the reason Dems can't get their message out is due to some uber-corporate overload control. If Katrina showed us anything, it is the FACT that the media can have a spine against corporate interests and can be hostile to Repukes.

The "media-message" problem is nothing but one of our own making.

Bullshit to your notion that some "uber-corporate control" of our media does not exist. You are delusional if you think that is not a factor.

55. Rove ordered this
Gotta get those poll numbers up. Then Bush can get back to being super arrogant again, strutting around in his little cowboy boots. Or playing dress-up army man.

56. Prediction = He will APOLOGIZE during primetime for Katrina mess
We are now witness to the "contrition and charm" offensive to prevent further poll declines and to quell any potential Democratic efforts to show Shrub for what he is...INCOMPETENT.

I predict he will apologize and at the same time try to work in something about Christian forgiveness in an effort to absolve his "sins" with his christofascist base.

58. Prediction number 2:
The little weasel will squeeze out some crocodile tears in photo-op sympathy for those who died and those who lost everything they had.

I hope he breaks out in a horrible rash from the stress of faking it so hard.

Maybe pull out the ol' air guitar. Or pull a wheelie like Lance showed him.

I guess all the talking he was doing on his propaganda tour on his vacation is now backseat to some photo-ops.

61. Is it just a fart or is is a highly charged, meaningful,........to the MSM
President Bush to address the nation thursday:

And will it be followed by 2 hours of cheerleading, slobbering and analysis?

The MSM has been led around by the nose by this adminstration for 5 years. You cover every photo op and every sneeze. If they don't want to schedule press conferences like previous adminstrations, stop your coverage until they do. They are controlling the agenda and the press.

If the president farts, and you cover the fart, and you broadcast the fart every hour, and if you call your analysts to debate whether it was an accidental fart or a fart in the direction of left wing Democrats, or a highly charged, meaningful, politically charged fart in the face of the American people, does that make it MORE THAN A FART?

Get real. STOP COVERING THE FARTS, JUST GIVE US THE NEWS.

74. I found a copy of *'s Thursday night speech! (satire)
Instead of the usual podium and presidential backdrop, the camera will cut to President Bush in casual wear - a cowboy hat, light shirt and jeans. He'll be standing over a downed tree in some area of NO with a chainsaw in hand, and he'll be clearing brush. After a few moments of seeing our leader in full action figure mode, he'll kill the chainsaw, and turn to the camera.

Bush: "My fellow 'Merukans, a horrible tragedy has occurred here in our country. Hurricane Corrina has devastated the city of Louisiana. It was a storm that no one ever could have imagined and never could have prevented. Tonight, I ask that we come together as a nation. Tonight, in the spirit of community, I ask you to help these poor people of New Orleans to rebuild immediately, because my mother doesn't want them living in Houston any more.

To stay the course on this huge task of rebuilding, I have taken personal responsibility... to clear all the brush in New Orleans. I've got the other President Bush and Clinton watching over this relocation situation, because after I'm done here in a few hours, my attention is going to be on the war that we launched late last night in Syria.

This many come as a shock to many of you. You may have read in the newspapers yesterday* or heard on the Internets, that our Ambassador to Iraq clearly stated yesterday "Our patience is running out with Syria". Well, last night at midnight, it done run out completely. The Vice President and I ordered tactical nuclear strikes against anything that moved near the Iraqi border. This is part of our ongoing mission to contain the terrorists there, in molten piles of glass, as opposed to here, in the good old US of A.

Now, I know some of you are saying, should we be running off to a new war, when we have such a catastrophe right here at home, and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? The answer is, yes, we must do this because evil never sleeps, evil never eats, and it smells bad. We must be prepared to sacrifice in order to win this war on freedom, for freedom.

I also know that many of you are worried about the victims of Katrina, but I want to assure you they are being taken care of. Trent Lott's house is being rebuilt as we speak on a special no bid contract with KBR. Our former FEMA head, Mike Brown - I call him Brownie - just arrived among friends and family in Texas, and I'm lining up some choice executive positions for him asap.

We will win this war on terror, this struggle for freedom here, and abroad. May God bless the United States of America."

Cut back to the chainsaw being fired up.

Next up: Larry King interviews Mike Brown, former head of FEMA, live from Texas, to tell him what a great job he did the past two weeks!
