Australian "counter-terrorism" summit to discuss police-state measures

Australian "counter-terrorism" summit to discuss police-state measuresBy Mike Head

As it did after the September 11 and Bali terrorist atrocities in 2001 and 2002, the Australian government has seized upon the July 7 bombings in London to bring forward a new wave of measures that will overturn centuries-old civil liberties.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister John Howard announced that, together with the premiers of the states and territories—all from the Labor Party—he will convene a “special meeting of the Council of Australian Governments to consider counter-terrorism issues,” which will be held on September 27.

Asked by journalists if the initiatives to be discussed could curtail civil liberties, Howard declared: "The most important civil liberty you and I have is to stay alive. To protect people from attacks is in favor of, not against, civil liberties."

2. Corportists pulling politicians strings sure getting a boost from July 7
They are getting loose ends tied up into nice little martial law bundles.

My daughter's many buddies in Austrailia all say the same thing: Nobody knows ANYBODY who actually voted for Howard last time around. Maybe their elections are also, ahem, questionable.

Keep people afraid and question the patriotism of any who doubt you is the formula for manipulating people which Hermann Goering described to Gustave Gilbert, a German speaking U. S. intelligence officer, in Nuremberg.

"Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

3. OK, I agree. All the western democracies should become more strict
on their immigration and civil liberties. They should deny immigration from all third world countries and the ME. AND, while they are at it, they should also refuse to use, abuse, steal, deal, buy or otherwise take any of the natural resources from any ME or African developing nation or the tin-pot dictators (who were elected) in the Caribbean or South America.

4. the mask comes off; Australia goes the martial law route, too
Particularly ominous is that this is all happening in a coordinated fashion. Rigged election in Australia, PATRIOT Act -like crap in Australia, etc., all in parallel with the US and the UK.
