ROME - A U.S. military helicopter crashed in the countryside in eastern Sicily on Wednesday after taking off from a U.S. Navy base, according to Italian news agencies.
Italian police confirmed a helicopter had crashed but they had no word on survivors or details.
Lt. Steve Curry, a spokesman for the Navy base at Sigonella, near Catania, said he was checking out reports of the crash.
3. So, assuming they try to pass this off as a non-related 'accident' again
Italy? Right. Sure. They were in Italy.
Here's a question then: Who the hell is maintaining these helicopters that are always falling out of the sky? Brown & Root? Are they cutting costs at the expense of soldiers' lives? Anyone looking at the maintenance books for all these plummeting helicopters?
Privatized maintenance contracts on military equipment?
Who knows? But it sounds exactly like what Bush & the Repubs. are always pushing! I just heard that administration is using millions from the National Park Service budget on a study by a private consultant on privatizing a lot of jobs in the national parks. That has caused morale to plumet among government employees.
