Iraqis vent rage on call-in TV after bombs kill 43

BAGHDAD, Aug 17 (Reuters) - State television flashed grisly images of the latest bombing victims as the anchor told viewers their squabbling leaders would stabilise the country, in words that could only be termed reassuring in Iraq's chaos.

"It is a dialogue. They did not pull out guns and shoot each other," said the anchor on Iraqiya television, referring to Iraqi politicians struggling to draft a constitution.

...

But Iraqis are in no mood for questions. They want decisive action from a government paralysed by sectarian and ethnic divisions holding up efforts to draft a constitution.

"These men that kill 100, 50 and 70 men a day -- have they been put to death," said a caller named Abu Abbas. "How many have been put to death? How many? The National Assembly is supposed to represent the Iraqi people. All I hear is we will do this and we will do that."

...

"When will Iraqi blood stop being spilled?" asked Om Hassan.

suicide car bomber targeting policemen detonated his vehicle outside the Nahda bus station in central Baghdad, one of the city’s major transit points, the U.S. military said.
A second car exploded in the open-air station’s parking lot near buses that carry passengers to Amarah and Basra, Shiite-dominated cities in southern Iraq, police Capt. Nabil Abdul-Qader said.
About 30 minutes later, a suicide bomber exploded his vehicle near the Kindi Hospital as many of the wounded were arriving for treatment, police said. It was unclear if the hospital was targeted in the blast.

Two at a bus station and one at a hospital to finish off the survivors. The Iraqis may not have much love for their occupiers, but I can only imagine the hostility they must be feeling for the ineffective government officials they elected last January and their petty games they are playing as they draft a constitution. To say nothing of Zarqawi and his jihad friends.

I figure Iraqi pride was wounded by armed foreigners on their soil and Zarqawi and the “resistance” may have played to that for awhile. But these guys have nothing to offer but carnage. Terrorism by Iraqi Sunni is just plain stupid - they should be forging a political alliance with the Kurds. I hope, when the Sunni come to realize that Zarqawi stands between them and their fair share of oil revenue, he's toast. If not, they will wind up partitioned away from the oil reserves, in poverty, and isolated forever. What future is there is being Loser-stan, with Zarqawi and his merry jihads chopping off heads?
