Spilled oil set ablaze at Iraq pipeline -U.S. Army
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/OB242694.htm

TIKRIT, Iraq, Oct 12 (Reuters) - A fire has broken out at a crude oil pipeline south of the Iraqi oil hub of Kirkuk, probably caused by saboteurs setting spilled oil alight, a U.S. military spokeswoman said on Sunday.

The pipeline links the Kirkuk oilfields with a refinery at Baiji, Major Josslyn Aberle, a spokeswoman for the 4th Infantry Division, told reporters. snip

A separate fire involving a benzene or liquid propane pipeline east of Bayji and about 30 km (20 miles) north of Tikrit has been put out, Aberle said. The fire, which started on Saturday afternoon and lit up the night sky, was probably started by a faulty electrical connection, she said.
