BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Three car bombs, which went off almost simultaneously about a kilometre (half a mile) apart, killed 18 people and wounded 48 in a mainly Shi'ite district of west Baghdad on Wednesday, police said.
The bombs, apparently in stationary cars, struck the Shola neighbourhood after dark, causing widespread damage and casualties on the district's main street, near a restaurant and close to a car repair workshop, police sources said.
A fourth explosion struck the Palestine Street neighbourhood of central Baghdad, apparently targeting a convoy of vehicles from the Interior Ministry, police said. It was not clear whether there were casualties.
