Drudge - Latest exit polls - "51% FOR SCHWARZENEGGER,"
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 07:49 PM by Frodo
EXIT POLLS SHOW LANDSLIDE: RECALL, SCHWARZENEGGER POISED FOR EASY WIN

LATEST EXIT POLLS SHOW 59% VOTE 'YES' FOR RECALL, TOP CAMPAIGN AND MEDIA SOURCES TELL DRUDGE REPORT, 51% FOR SCHWARZENEGGER, 30% FOR BUSTAMANTE, 13% MCCLINTOCK... DEVELOPING...

No link of course.

Embarrasing is true and it really is a high turnout election.

Opinion? The last minute blast was a mistake? It narrowed the news down to "Arnold or Gray" and too many people must have seen it as dirty pool. We needed to spread this out a little more.

Yeah, enough already with Drudge's crap

The whole point of it is to energize Arnold voters and depress Bustamante voters. Why do we need that?

Drudge is trying to influence the vote. People that post his crap are just helping him.

And, I didn't think there were going to be any exit polls because of the debacles in 00 and 02.

Both the LA Times and a "media conglomerate" are running exit polls.

Now, how accurate are they given this strange "election"? We can only hope.

16. "Released" can mean so many different things.
People in the media get updates over the course of the day (since they are the ones doing the polling). Remember in 2000 how we heard early in the say that several states were closer than expected and this could actually be a race? Remember how Rush was telling everyone "not to panic"?

Drudge supposedly gets some of this. The good news is that exit polling is a VERY inexact "science". It can tell you alot a month later about how Hispanic males age 18-35 decided to vote, but VERY LITTLE about what the total is today.

13. there are exit polls, kitsune
I have no idea whether Drudge has true information from them, but there certainly are exit polls being done. Buchanan & Press, a few hours ago, reported some of the results from OTHER questions in the exit polls, such as "do you approve of *?" The answer to that, BTW, was 50% yes & 47% no.

Of course, they didn't say anything about the exit polls for the governor's race, but reading from body language & attitude, I became pretty gloomy about the outcome.....

Drudge is one in the few in the media who jumps the gun on exit polls. Traditionally they don't call races on tv based on the polls until the polls close.

Drudge just runs with it.

"4% other" would lend unfortunate credibility to this process. If 130+ candidates share 4% of the vote it can hardly be spun as a circus. Let's hope it's more than that.

For goodness sake I just sale Sheila Jackson Lee on MSNBC and she was talking about everything the Davis administration did IN THE PAST TENSE and making excuses for why people didn't like it.

There are maybe 16000 unique logins on DU.

Of those, perhaps 4000 visit on a given high-traffic day.

Let's say a quarter are registered voters in CA.

That's 1000 fanatical Democratic voters who are notified that Drudge says Ahnold is der gubernator an hour or so before the polls close. Damn right you'll be mad at him, especially if you live in CA, but he's not stopping anyone from voting.

There isn't a single person here who is going to vote differently because of this post. And frankly, the DU "penetration" is miniscule by comparison. But hey! Somebody make it a poll??

How many people changed there vote because of my post???

And at this point it's pretty much over and we don't want to admit it. You want to go to bed thinking we won't know until three weeks from now after all the absentee votes are challenged.

So don't read it.

There are a dozen threads like this one. If you hadn't noticed, DU has a tough time dealing with the volume of people who want to comment on the topic. It requires extra threads. An excellent time to do that is when the story gets updated.

44. Exit Polls Can't Be That Wrong...
Drudge is leaking polls that the folks in the media all have access to all day. He is the only lowlife to break the news early.

To say they have no basis in realtity isn't fair. They are perfectly real. I don't know if the final numbers will hold up, but spreads like 59-41 and 51-30, even if they don't hold up, mean a sure victory for the Recall proponents and for Arnold.

...commissioned detailed exit polling.

Those results were shared with all the media outlets, and were consistent with each other.

Drudge got hold of those detailed exit poll results. He reported them, which is a sleazy thing to do.

Davis conceded, in case you weren't paying attention, by the way.

The exit polls are right. Now, lets get back to work. Denial isn't a river in Egypt.

49. if arnold has really been elected ...
1) If this woman-groping skank has really been elected, and the repugs are excited about it ... I don't ever want to hear one more word about Bill Clinton's penis. Ever. Not one word. In choosing Arnold, the GOP has forfeited the RIGHT to ever talk about Clinton's sexual exploits again.

2) OK. This is just too much. 2000 election stolen; bad mid-term elections for Dems; Cali leadership lost to a repug. OK, gang ... it's time to pull out all the stops. No more Mister Nice Guy. We must take back the White House in 2004 BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. Nothing's too low for the GOP in terms of campaign dirty tricks ... we must just be more clever in cutting them off at the knees. No time for licking our wounds (I'm sure that won't stop Arnold, though ... ha-ha!) ... we've gotta get in gear.

I can't do anything tonight out in the world, so I'm going to start with some creative voodoo curses. Anyone got a copy of Terminator 2 I can stick pins in?
