CINCINNATI (AP) — The rhetoric among Republicans in the race for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District is becoming more venomous as candidates invoke past scandals and controversies to get a leg up on one another.

Attacks invoking bounced checks, raised taxes and marital troubles have been volleyed around in the last week among the highest profile Republicans in the district that has been in GOP hands for the last 30 years.

The negative campaigning ahead of the June 14 primary has revolved around three of the best funded and most well-known Republicans: Hamilton County Commissioner Pat DeWine, former U.S. Rep. Bob McEwen and former state Rep. Jean Schmidt.

DeWine's campaign last week began running television and radio spots attacking "Bouncin' Bob," a reference to 166 overdrafts McEwen had with the House bank in the 1980s...

1. Thats pretty funny, i live in the 3rd cong dist in Northern california and

we had a 3 way gop shit fest, it was one of the dirtiest i've seen in years. Anyhow the biggest ahole of them all decides after a bit that "he will take the high road". So the other 2 kill each-other off, the dem that ran wasn't well known so Mr. ahole high road taker won and he was the worst of the 3, he just had a better campaign manager.

Can we go back to the late 1980s and remember the role Bolton and all his cronies working for Poppy played in that much not remembered scandal named IRAN/CONTRA? IMHO, IRAN/CONTRA was FAR WORSE THAN WATERGATE!
