Protesters Picket Schwarzenegger's Rocklin School Visit

The governor is dogged by critics at just about any appearance he makes these days and his visit to a Rocklin elementary school on Tuesday was no exception.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger paid a visit to Rock Creek Elementary School in the Rocklin Unified School District. While students may have been delighted to see him, others saw the visit in a different light. Parents and teacher's union representatives protesting outside noted that Schwarzenegger chose a high-achieving and well-funded school for his visit. They argued that the governor's refusal to fully fund Proposition 98 education spending mandates is hurting schools in less affluent areas. "It's a high income area," said one protester. "I think it's ridiculous he chose this school and he's keeping funds from public education." <snip>
