BEIJING China responded angrily on Sunday to the new limits that the United States placed on its clothing exports and manufacturers here called for tit-for-tat restrictions.
snip---
"The Chinese government reserves the right to adopt further measures under the WTO framework," Chong added, in a statement that was published in the country's state-run press on Sunday.
snip----
This latest looming trade fight between China and the United States comes at a brittle time in their economic relations.
snip------
The United States' bilateral trade deficit with China, the biggest exporter to the U.S. market, rose to $21 billion in the first four months of this year, compared with $11 billion for the first four months of last year.

Between the gone-but-not-lamented Ambassador Paul (Foot in the Mouth) Cellucci, the continuing cattle ban, and the clearly illegal tariffs on softwood lumber... yep, Canada's on the PO'd list.

ON EDIT: However, since you have that hilarious security camera footage in your sig line, all is forgiven.

3. We need fair trade with China
China dumping cheap plastic crap made with slave wages on the US is not fair trade. If they don't want to play fair then the hell with them. I prefer not to buy stuff from communist countries with horrendous human rights records anyway. Too many American soldiers died and were wounded fighting communism for us to forget their sacrifices.

6. China is buying a large bit of our cheap crap Treasury note currency
that's floating the ever-balloooning Bush deficit

so it's a fair trade there.

7. True, but *why* should they play fair?
isn't that in violation of the concept of 'free market'? And its not fair for American corporations to offshore jobs. But it is done, because we live in a free market capitalist world.

5. LOL. China hates US but loves Wal-mart. This situation is almost funny.
But will China decide to upset Wal-mart because the US is the greater danger to them?
