Bush signs bill naming Sacramento courthouse after late congressman

President Bush signed legislation Friday naming the federal courthouse in Sacramento after the late Rep. Robert Matsui.


Matsui, a Democrat who represented the Sacramento area in Congress for 26 years, died Jan. 1 of complications from a rare bone marrow disease. He was 63.


His widow, Doris, was elected last month to replace him in the House of Representatives.


Matsui was the third-ranking Democrat on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. He also was chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
