White Supremacist Runs for School Board

HELENA, Mont. (AP) -- First came the leaflets. Left on front porches around the college town of Bozeman last summer, they called for a white homeland and espoused a need to protect the white race.

Then, residents learned a month ago that a member of the group that distributed the leaflets had gathered enough signatures to run as a candidate in next Tuesday's school board election.

In the city of about 57,000, known for its mix of ranchers, artists and ski bums, many are appalled by Kevin McGuire's candidacy.

Brightly colored posters promoting tolerance have sprung up. Angry letters poured in to the local paper, some from people who felt duped into signing his petition

No need to be so aggressive in painting an entire state's population based on your 4 googled stories. And you can rip on me w/o putting in your "cliched" smilies.

I tend to agree with the rest of the thread - getting someone on the ticket is one thing, actually electing this nutcase would be another thing entirely.

Anyway, I just don't appreciate you painting Montana with such a broad brush any more than I think you'd appreciate me saying New York is full of a bunch of crazy, drug-addled crooks just because I can google a bunch of article that say so.

Aside from Schweitzer as governor, we have a democratic majority in both houses and we passed a medicinal marijuana act last election. There's more, but I'm too bigotted to remember....

Montana is turning blue, Bozeman is very liberal, and our stupid conservative paper is slamming this guy left and right because he lied to people when he was going around looking for petition signers.
