War critic at center of CIA flap always vague on wife's job
By Bill Nichols and John Diamond, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — On the guest list of the 1999 state dinner hosted by President Clinton for President Jerry Rawlings of Ghana, no occupation was listed for Valerie Wilson, the wife of Joseph C. Wilson IV, Clinton's top White House Africa analyst from 1997 to 1998.

Clinton administration colleagues of Joe Wilson say they always wondered what Valerie Wilson did. One former State Department official, who requested anonymity, says Wilson said his wife was an energy analyst. "But it was always very vague," the former official says.

The reason for Joe Wilson's evasiveness about his wife's career has become clear in the past three days. The Justice Department is investigating whether someone in the White House identified Valerie Wilson — known professionally by her maiden name, Valerie Plame — to the news media as a CIA operative.

1. Well that discredits Novak and his statement that it was
widely known and that no real harm was done.

4. Not to mention endangerment of her life...
She can no longer travel safely in some parts of the world, for example.

The dems should intro bill to provide gov protection for the duration, at least. And the duration can be quite extended for grudge-holders in the bush league.

6. Assuming that Somebody Actually Is Interested in Finding Illicit WMDs
they're going to have to build a whole new team to do it, from scratch.
For the next few years, we're going to be fucking blind in that area!

Bushco doesn't care, they look for WMDs by invading any country that might have them!

7. energy industry..... WMDs tracking...
looks like she was involved in tracking the movement of materials related to Nukes - under the guise of Energy (nuclear energy). This is one of the big controversies about the revelation that a company upon whose board Rumsfeld sat sold nuke energy technology to North Korea - because nuke energy creates byproducts that are easily used for.... Nuke weapons. Just an educated guess.

If I connect the dots. Some folks in the WH disrupted (blew open) an intelligence operation that is likely involved in tracking info related to nuclear weapons development - OR perhaps in concern with all of those nukes in the former soviet republics? Now consider the reason they added the nuke threat to Iraq? Because folks weren't reacting to all the other trumped up charges last summer... until they started throwing around "evidence" about NUKES. Get the irony.

10. "folks weren't reacting"
I'm sure the career DOJ team has a motive search component. Hopefully they are swift enough to seize KKKarl's polling files over the period of the runup/drumup, showing various peaks or movement in response to immorally inserted and bandied keywords like "mushroom cloud", "reconstituted nuclear weapons", etc.

"Here's the overnights, Mr. Rove."

(whistle) "Damn! Look at that mushroom mushroom . . . Hahaha!"

"Right, just keep 'em in the dark and watch 'em grow . . . Haha!"

"Now, get me the file on that woman. Back to the grindstone . . . for her, Hahaha!"

"You're really something, Mr. Rove."

8. This story will disappear by the end of the week.
They are already spinning this as a Democratic Bush Bash in an election year. No one will dare question the good American Novak's integrity. He is innocent. The White House is innocent.

Clinton did it.
