Three U.S. Troops Killed in Iraqi City of Ramadi
Sun Apr 17, 2005 03:17 AM ET

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Three U.S. soldiers were killed by mortar fire at a U.S. base in the city of Ramadi overnight, the U.S. military said Sunday.
Seven servicemen were also wounded in the attack, three of them seriously, the military said in a statement. The attackers were believed to have fled into a nearby mosque. But when Iraqi security forces searched it, they found no insurgents.

Ramadi, about 65 miles west of Baghdad, has been one of the most violent cities over the past two years, with daily attacks on U.S. and Iraqi forces.

7. Terrible
and its going to get worse, now that the Shiites and Sunnis have started kidnapping each other and blowing up each others mosques. Our boys and girls will just be in the middle of a civil war.

9. 1556 is the number for public consumption. The number is way higher than
1556, believe it.

But Centcom has not listed deaths from several bombings over the last few days. I can only imagine how bad the real number is. :(

12. Just remember, they are only counting deaths which actually occur on
the battlefield. The real number is supposedly much higher, around 6k-7k.

14. Iraqi security not finding insurgents?
But when Iraqi security forces searched it, they found no insurgents.

Wow, what a surprise. :eyes:

"Hey guys! Was that you with the mortar?"

"Yeah!"

"Nice work!"

"Don't tell them we're here, 'kay?"

"Sure thing!"

17. It's good that you pointed that out
I missed the part about
the security forces being Iraqi.
I sure wouldn't blame them for not
turning in fellow Iraqis.

This is insane.

18. Iraqi security = insurgents
If not, probably they are dead a long time ago.

Let' say they are not. Why fight the insurgents when they (the Iraqi security force) have a family to feed? It's a good business for them to let the fight between insurgents and Americans continue. They get paid with US dollars and get to buy cheap Iraqi foods. They are not stupid, and have to think about the day when the Americans leave. They really don't want to mess with the insurgents.

15. Our government is still under the delusion...
Our government is still under the delusion that Iraqis will kill their family, friends, and countrymen under the direction of a US controlled puppet government.

This has NEVER worked for ANY occupation of ANY country!
