HAVANA, March 30 (Xinhuanet) -- About 3,000 international figures have signed a manifesto repudiating the US action against Cuba inthe United Nations Human Rights Commission, Cuban press said Wednesday.

Writers, artists, scientists, academicians and other public figures from cross America, Europe, Africa and Asia continued to join the 3,026 persons who have signed the text against Washington's anti-Cuban maneuver, said the state-run daily Granma.

New signers included former Portuguese Prime Minister Vasco Goncalves; Belgian theological professor of the University of Lovaina, Francois Houtart, and German playwright Manfred Wekwerth.

The manifesto, titled "Let's Stop a New Maneuver Against Cuba,"condemned the Washington's "manipulating and selective" action against Cuba in the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva to justify its hostility against the island.

The text also denounced the pressure by the US on poor countries in search of sufficient support to attain the approval of its resolution against Cuba in the UN Human Rights Commission.

2. and we will see this on CNN and Fox - when?

oh

there's still that TS and MJ thing going on , ,

more from the posted article:

"The United States has no moral authority to be the judge of human rights in Cuba," said the document, which called on member countries of the commission to prevent the US from using the institution to legitimize its anti-Cuban activity"

What is the chance of them being successful?

This 40 years of restrictions on Cuba is one thing, pressuring other nations to support the US's vindictive attitude re Cuba is just downright sleazy IMO.

I hope the UN pays serious attention to this issue, and stops the US from gaining legitimacy in it's discrimination.

Enough is enough - right now Cuba may be more "stable" than the US, well, except for that disruptive influence of - oh - that'd be the US!

(sigh)
