One of its requirements could force Springfield clinic to close.

Jefferson City — Anyone who transports a minor across state lines so she may obtain an abortion without the permission of a parent or judge could be sued in civil court under a measure the House adopted Thursday.

The chamber voted 122-31 to give final approval to House Bill 100, which would also require abortion providers to have clinical privileges at a hospital within 30 miles.

That provision could force Springfield Healthcare Center, the area's only abortion provider, to close, clinic administrator Michelle Collins said.

1. Great... did they also pass
a bill to help take care of the babies financially for the ones who were having to have abortions because they can't afford a baby that they are now forced to have?!

2. ...across state lines? - Wouldn't this have to be a federal law?
I could see a law prohibiting bringing IN certain things (guns, cigarettes, etc) but I'm not familiar with any other STATE law that could prohibit someone taking something OUT of the state.

For example, the liquor is cheaper in New Jersey than Pennsylvania. Philly residents living close to a bridge come over to buy their booze, then take it to PA. It's against the law, but to bring it *INTO* the state...

So, I COULD see a law prohibiting adults from bringing IN minors for abortions w/o notification, but legally speaking, THIS seems odd.
