Venezuela Signs $120M Contract for 10 Russian Helicopters
http://www.mosnews.com/money/2005/03/11/venezuelahelicopters.shtml

Venezuela has signed the first contract for the delivery of Russian military helicopters, a source in the Russian embassy in Caracas told RIA Novosti over the phone on Friday, March 11. snip

Venezuelan information web portal Cadena Global has noted that this is only the first shipment of Russian military supplies that Venezuela plans to buy. At the present time the two countries are continuing negotiations that were begun in February regarding the purchase of at least another 20 helicopters and 100,000 Kalashnikov automatic rifles. snip

As MosNews reported earlier, Venezuela’s decision to buy Russian military supplies caused the U.S. administration to express its concern and protest. The U.S. administration said it was worried by the deliveries of Russian arms to Venezuela. Russia has played down those concerns, saying that “Venezuela is not in a state of war with any country and that its military cooperation with Russia does not violate any international norms and agreements”.

2. I can see why they'd want this aircraft
According to http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/mi8t/specs.html, this helicopter can carry 24 combat-equipped troops. (The Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk carries 11.) It can slingload 3000 kilos of cargo (against 4000 for the UH-60), and the price has to be at least competitive.

If helicopter A can carry two squads into battle and helicopter B only one, and your country doesn't spend more on its military than the rest of the world combined, helicopter A looks mighty appealing.

Did Junior bite off more than he can chew?

Sure hope Chavez survives Bu$co's propensity for "Liberating"

But the OTHER powers have spoken . . .

USA is NOT going to tell THEM what to do

The BoyKing might as well sit back and watch his dream empire crumble . .

6. Once again
we have an article that shows the results of Bush's diplomatic mistakes--and it is published outside the U.S.

My guess is that when Bush's Titanic policies cause the U.S. to go down the tubes, the citizens of the U.S. are going to be taken completely by surprise. They'll wonder, "Why didn't anyone warn us?"

In the meantime, Murdoch and his ilk will all be working happily for whoever is the new superpower. Murdoch and the corporate executives just want power. They don't care anything about our country or its citizens.

7. Cowboy politics.... watch out, you just might step in some
cow plops. I know from experience that it's not very appealing.
