Subpoenas to Be Sent in Baseball Steroid Probe (House)
http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=565788

The House Government Reform and Oversight Committee will serve 11 subpoenas to baseball witnesses regarded steroid use in Major League Baseball, ABC News has learned.

The witnesses will be summoned to testify at a hearing on March 17.

Jose Canseco, former Oakland Athletic and Texas Ranger.

Jason Giambi, current New York Yankee and former Oakland Athletic.

Mark McGwire, former Oakland Athletic and St. Louis Cardinal.

Rafael Palmeiro, current Baltimore Oriole and former Texas Ranger.

Curt Schilling, currently of the Boston Red Sox.

Sammy Sosa, current Baltimore Oriole and former Chicago Cub.

Who the Cheney cares? Investigate the scandals in the Bush Admin or Pentagon - nah, but they'll waste time on this. Gee, maybe they can link Sosa to Bush Knew!

I guess they can't think of anything else to investigate than a bunch of

overblown athletes who chose/choose to mess up their bodies just to feed

their gigantic egos.

Arrrghh.

4. What the hell is wrong with these people?
They refuse to investigate the Gannon-Guckert affair. The Valerie Plame outing. The WMD lie. The Energy Task Force Scandal.

But steriods in baseball -- that's a freakin priority??!!!!???

I'm as big of a baseball fan as anyone, and if Congress wants to investigate them I would support it -- just as long as they do the important stuff first.

7. did somebody say drugs?
Edited on Wed Mar-09-05 07:12 PM by Gabi Hayes

Afghanistan’s government says it will take tougher measures against drugs after a UN agency report concluded the country was becoming a narcotic state. The International Narcotics Control Board’s report found that opium production in Afghanistan last year reached 4,200 tonnes - 1000 tonnes more than in 2003.

It’s a level not seen since the Taliban were in power. In a statement President Hamid Karzai’s office said, “The Government of Afghanistan, within the help of the international community, is firmly pursuing the fight against narcotics on all fronts.” In an effort to make Afghanistan a “narcotic-free country”, the government said it would crack down on drug production, punish traffickers and destroy poppy fields. The government was “working to close drug markets, seize narcotics which are being smuggled all over Afghanistan and to arrest those involved in drug smuggling.”

When President Karzai came into office in December he pledged a holy war on drugs. But the World Bank says opium production has become the Afghanistan’s leading economic acitivity, locking it into a vicious cycle with drug warlords. Last year Afghanistan authorities seized more than 80 tonnes of drugs and shut down more than 75 narcotics labs.

8. Remember the State of the Union nod to this?
Anthing to get our minds off of what is actually going on.

And it is complete bullshit that Bonds is skating right past this because he is already too much of a circus. I work at the Spring Training games out here in Az and saw the best shirt with Babe Ruth on it that read; Steroid Free. haha
