Bush Says No to 'Half-Hearted' Syrian Withdrawal
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 01:22 PM by Rose Siding
WESTFIELD, N.J. (Reuters) - President Bush on Friday demanded Syria's complete withdrawal from Lebanon.

"When we say withdraw we mean complete withdrawal -- no half-hearted measures," Bush said at an event in New Jersey promoting his Social Security plan.

His comments followed reports that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was expected to announce on Saturday a partial pullout of troops from Lebanon, with some leaving completely and the rest redeploying close to the border.
...
"We want democracy in Lebanon to succeed. And we know it cannot succeed so long as she is occupied by a foreign power," Bush added.

6. Stupid, no...
We should not be fooled into calling him stupid. He is not.
He is disingenuous to such an extreme that no one can believe it.
So far, it has been incredibly successful.

I mean by that that when you refuse to change your course no matter what, your goal will succeed. What his goal is, is not entirely clear however. I don't know if he means to wreck the ME, the USA or the entire planet.

It would be great if those who don't want to wreck the planet but want to save it acted the same way and refused to change course no matter what, and became wary of certain "bipartisan" compromises that allow these fascist policies to proceed unimpeded (with Republican majority) but also unprotested.

8. I want to disagree
I think he really is stupid. In order for him to make statements at all to his followers like "it cannot succeed so long as she is occupied by a foreign power" they must understand what he is saying. If they can understand that they must minimally detect the duplicity in what he is saying. If they do not he is stupid as are his followers.

10. You may be right, StClone...It's hard to tell
I don't know whether it is harder to believe that people could be that stupid, or to believe that people could be that brazen.

I also think that the bushpods probably feel that US occupation is never occupation. It's always liberation. It's only other people's occupation that is not right. Kinda like Hitler's followers, who believed that the master race was entitled whereas others weren't.

"We want democracy in Lebanon to succeed. And we know it cannot succeed so long as she is occupied by a foreign power," Bush added.

But we expect democracy to succeed in Iraq which, I believe, is occupied by a foreign power.
Hmmmmm.
Maybe it doesn't count, because it's us.
What a fucking anus!
