GAY DEMOCRAT ORG. ENDORSES DEAN FOR DNC CHAIR

WASHINGTON - Today, the National Stonewall Democrats announced its endorsement of Gov. Howard Dean in his candidacy for Chair of the Democratic National Committee. NSD granted the endorsement after a month-long process that allowed the candidates for Chair to interact with the organization's membership.

Members of the Democratic National Committee will elect a new Chair at the DNC Winter Meeting on Feb. 12 in Washington, D.C.

"Over the years, I have worked hard with allies in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community to achieve fair and equal treatment for all Americans and I am honored to have the endorsement of the National Stonewall Democrats," Dean said. "If elected DNC Chair, I intend to make the Democratic Party competitive in every race, in every district, in every state and territory. The Stonewall Democrats will be critical in making this vision a reality."

"Governor Dean has a great understanding of the need for grassroots organizing that will drive the Democratic Party's growth in the next four years," said Dave Noble, NSD executive director. "He has also been a strong supporter of our community and recognizes that Democrats must rally against Republican attempts to divide our country at the expense of our families. While each candidate for DNC Chair has the talent to expand our party, we believe that Governor Dean has overwhelmingly earned the endorsement of the National Stonewall Democrats."
