Woman who accused Russia of bomb plot wins asylum
http://news.independent.co.uk/europe/story.jsp?story=602281

A woman who claims that the Russian security service orchestrated a deadly bombing campaign against its own people has been granted political asylum in the United States.

Alena Morozova, 28, argued that her life was not safe in Russia because of her role in an investigation into a series of mysterious apartment bombings that claimed the lives of almost 300 people in three Russian cities in 1999. snip

In 1999, public outrage over the bombings allowed Vladimir Putin, who was Prime Minister, to launch the second Chechen war. When Boris Yeltsin stepped down as President a few months later he chose Mr Putin, a former head of the FSB security service, as his successor.

Ms Morozova claims the FSB itself planted the explosives to propel its man into the Kremlin. Such allegations are dismissed as "immoral" and "delirious nonsense" by Mr Putin. The FSB says no concrete evidence to support such claims has been put forward.

2. No, this could be real
Remember: The U.S. is not alone in corrupt politics. This could very well be real, and is not beyond the realm of possibility. You can't just jump to conclusions based on one article, especially with NO hint at a hidden message. Time will tell, but this will get interesting.

3. Apparently, the INS found her story credible. Now, that's news!
If she were patently nuts or if the story wasn't plausible, an asylum officer or immigration judge wouldn't have granted her asylee status. Her testimony must have been fascinating, at the very least.

Always thought Bush has followed Putin's lead in a lot of his worst abuses of power. Putin is a master dirty trickster and black operator. The Russian apartment block bombings were followed by the second (successful) Chechnya occupation. 9/11 was followed by the occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq. Putin and Bush were "reelected".

A strange symmetry.
