Boston airport to be mock terrorist-attack site
United Airlines, along with local, state and federal law-enforcement officials, will hold six mock terrorist attacks on commercial airliners at Boston's Logan International Airport in the next six months, culminating in the practice interception of an airliner in flight.

Neither Boston Homeland Security Director Carlo A. Boccia nor Hank Krakowski, a vice president of UAL Corp.'s United Airlines, would say exactly how the airliner interception would be conducted.

United has lent planes to terrorism drills before, including in December, when a Boeing 777 was used in a mock terrorist hostage-taking and rescue in Chicago, Krakowski said.

"We will be using an aircraft," Boccia said, "but I am not going to tell you how."<snip>
