Environmental Issues Bring Bush To Michigan
Local 4 (Detroit)

President George W. Bush is scheduled to visit metro Detroit Monday to talk about his administration's stand on industrial air pollution.

Bush will tour a DTE power plant in Monroe, Mich., and talk about the environment. The visit comes at a time when there are questions even within his administration about its effectiveness, Local 4 reported.

An Environmental Protection Agency report says federal health standards that limit the amount of soot in the air need to be tightened. The EPA staff findings said the current standards don't offer enough protection for the elderly and people with respiratory problems. ---

Bush is scheduled to arrive on Air Force One at 11:30 a.m. at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti. ---

2. Bush to Michigan:
"Do not worry, I can assure you this pollution will not be going anywhere anytime soon. Future generations of Michiganers will be able to enjoy this polluted air. One day Michigan, you too can be like Texas."

4. These guys have no shame at all.
Say one thing, do another. Just tell the simpletons that pollution is being cleaned up, they won't notice.

5. Oh, I see the EPA is now telling
Bush what to do. Yeah, right. Uh huh, lets let "our" experts take a look at those soot levels. Aaah, just what I suspected, flawed science.

6. For Bush: Pro-environment = more coal burning w/o polution controls
So he goes to a coal fired plant!

:-)

This should excite his base - and once the US Media spin it as pro environment and show pretty pictures, it help with the overall poll numbers.

Of course the US media could do a honest presentation - nah - that would be inserting themselves into the story - and ethics per GOP/Rove say that is a no-no. just show the pictures and read the script. The Dems only complain because they do not know how to use the media as well as we, the GOP, do.

I do love our "we are not controlled by the right wing - we just act that way" media.

8. "stand on industrial air pollution"???
Yes, that's about how thick they want it - enough to stand on. :eyes:

DTE has a very reichwing PAC. Knollenberg will probably be there to give Smirk more posterior lip imprints.

9. Most of Michigan's environmental (and economic) problems were caused by:
One of Bush's friends-John Engler, former governor. He relaxed environmental rules, allowed companies to drain and sell great lakes' water, allowed companies and county sewage treatment facilities to dump whatever they wanted into the lakes, in particular, Lake St. Clair.
Of course, Engler isn't that close to Bush since he couldn't get out the vote in either the primary or the 2000 election. Spence Abraham got the cabinet post that Engler would have if Bush had been able to beat McCain or Gore in this state.

10. Get out of my neighborhood, piece of shit!!
I moved to MI in 1995 and I love it here. At the moment, it is far less polluted than the choking stench I left behind in Texas (my mom says they've had a record number of "red" pollution days down there this summer). Stop doing to America what you've already done to Texas.

Anybody... any semi-sentient, cellular mass, any blastocyst... but Bush in 2004!!!!!!
