IRA plots more bank heists in funding drive
Sunday Times
Liam Clarke

THE IRA is continuing to train and recruit members as well as prepare for further robberies, say senior security sources.
Only days after being accused of masterminding the £26m pre-Christmas robbery from the Northern Bank in Belfast, the IRA is embarking on a big funding drive, the sources believe.

The robbery, which Hugh Orde, Northern Ireland’s chief constable, has blamed on the IRA, is thought by some analysts to have been designed to secure a “pension fund” for the IRA’s demobbed volunteers.

One British source said: “There is no intelligence to suggest that this was their last robbery. The intelligence available to the British and Irish governments suggests that they continue to train, plan and gather intelligence.”

He pointed to a series of robberies, each netting more than £1m in the past two years. The most recent, last May, was mounted on a cash-and-carry warehouse at Dunmurry outside Belfast.

7. It is Sunday, so we get the round up of sunday fluffery from ...
.. the british press.

Look at it, each sentence, starting at the top, has one of:
"senior security sources said" who?
"the sources believe", right, it is sunday, time for faith based journalism.
"is thought by some analysts" who?
"one british source said" who
"he said", who?
and on and on.

such rubbish.
why post this rubbish without critique?

if would be laughable except there is a definite disinfo operation at play to discredit Sinn Fein and exclude them from the peace process. That would be a disastrous act and we need to point out what is happening.

12. The provos did it
The ultimate twist is to stick the crime on the innocent and break
the peace process as well. The murdoch empire is batting 1000 for
creating hate and destroying peace across the globe.

Too bad they did not rob murdoch.

13. What if ian paisley did it?
Perhaps they should start up investigating the unionists who want
to break the peace process, the UUP and the UDF and all those
chappies... maybe blaming the IRA is too convenient, considering
who gets the political benefits.

9. The British will always make up stories and quote anonymous 'sources'
when it come to Ireland. It pretty much was an ancient prototype for our attempted take-over of Iraq.

Isn't it sad that people NEVER learn.
