Report: U.N. Troops Exploited Congo Girls

By LEYLA LINTON
UNITED NATIONS (AP) - United Nations peacekeepers in Congo sexually exploited women and girls, some as young as 13, a U.N. watchdog office said Friday in a new confirmation that efforts to curb abuses by U.N. troops are not working.

Peacekeepers regularly had sex with Congolese women and girls, usually in exchange for food or small sums of money, investigators from the world body's Office of Internal Oversight Services found.

of its own, and if these pedophilic bastards get away with sexual exploitation of war refugees, its the military authority of their native country who are to blame, not the UN.

10. I wish they had mentioned what country's troops...
...were involved. And I wonder just how hard the U.N is trying to thwart this problem. Granted, it's probably hard to stop. Throw a bunch of young men with horns, away from home, with a bunch of desperately poor young girls and you've got a problem. The only deterrent is harsh punishment.

11. yeah, peacekeepers from WHAT Country?-UN=bad-US=good
When the U.S. takes over another country, and when we hear about it from the U.N. as the world comes together to stop us, at least here at home people will have no problem supporting our invasion and ignoring anything the U.N. says.

12. Are they raping them, like US troops in Iraq & Afghanistan?

Are they also raping the female soldiers, like US troops in Iraq & Afghanistan?

Pentagon unveils rape policy - New rules follow scandals in Iraq

Victims'-advocacy groups say dozens of women serving in Iraq and Kuwait have reported being assaulted, primarily by male military colleagues. Last year, Pentagon figures showed that more than 100 service personnel in the Persian Gulf region - including Iraq and Afghanistan - reported being sexually assaulted.
