Bush urges allies to help fight chaos in Iraq
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N12220272.htm

FORT STEWART, Ga., Sept 12 (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush called on the international community on Friday to join the effort to build a stable postwar Iraq and said free nations cannot be neutral in the "fight between civilization and chaos."

Bush, facing doubts at home, pressed his case for help from abroad as he welcomed troops from the 3rd Infantry Division who returned to their home base in Georgia from Iraq. Bush offered a glimpse of the message he will take to the U.N. General Assembly when he speaks there Sept. 23.

"It's time for others to join us," the president said of the mission in Iraq, which has become more costly and dangerous than the administration had anticipated since President Saddam Hussein was ousted on April 9.

Bush's remarks came as Secretary of State Colin Powell went to Geneva to meet with foreign ministers of fellow U.N. Security Council members Britain, France, Russia and China, and U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan.

5. "fight between civilization and chaos."
Bush caused the chaos in the first place and over the objections of the civilized world at that. And now he expects them to clean up his mess. No, in the interests of civilization beating chaos Bush needs to leave office. His botched adminsitration has done nothing but promote chaos over civilization.

9. They have chosen
the side of order. That's why they won't join this administration in its rush to chaos.

7. "They shared hugs and laughs and tears"
"...after his speech he met privately with members of 11 families of soldiers who died there. Bush expressed gratitude for their sacrifice.

"They shared hugs and laughs and tears," said a senior administration official.

Or maybe they shared withering invective with Bush and invited him to take a long walk off a short pier.

14. I'd like to see "Old Europe" offer Bush a proposal:
Make a formal, televised speech admitting that the U.S. invasion of Iraq was immoral, unjustified, and illegal. Pry the hands of your corporations off of the rebuilding process and grant the U.N. full and legitimate control. Then, and only then, will we consider bailing your ass out of the mess you've created for yourself and your nation.
