Federal surplus swells to $9 billion
Sorry (It's Canada)!
http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2004/12/16/785894-cp.html

OTTAWA (CP) - The federal surplus swelled to $9 billion in just the first seven months of the current fiscal year, thanks to a windfall from Ottawa's sale of its stake in Petro-Canada.

The latest figures from the federal Finance Department show that from April to October, the government took in $9 billion more than it spent - dramatically larger than the $5.8-billion surplus reported during the same period a year ago.

This year's surplus was swollen by the one-time results from the sale of the federal government's final holdings in the former Crown corporation.

That added $2.6 billion to Ottawa's coffers in September, said the Finance Department.

1. So their estimate of their surplus was understated...
and W's estimate of the debt was purposely overstated.

8. It's all smoke and mirrors really-they use the metric system
which accounts for a large part of this highly questionable counting. The other part is because they use different money so that makes a difference too.

12. Right!
This nine billion is a bunch of motley colored papers somebody snookered them into taking, abolutely worthless, and besides, how much is it when converted into foot-acres or joules or furlongs or chains or psi or whatever is right?

13. My fellow Americans
For too long have we ignored the dangers to our north. Recent intelligence as well as satellite photos show squads of Canadians creating and storing potentially hazardous chemical weapons disguised as maple syrup. This, plus the common knowledge that the Canadian government has successfully bred and trained flying moose that could dump anthrax on our northern cities, leaves us no choice but to take the initiative to save American lives and protect our freedoms. The invasions begins tomorrow. Thank you and God Bless.

11. You mean, Canada SELLS its assets? Not US!
The US just hands over logging rights, mineral rights, and actually pays big corporations for the honor of paving over our land to get their free trees.]]

How does Martin plan to get campaign contributions unless he gives away public property?
