Sex Service for Handicapped Suspended
Edited on Wed Sep-10-03 09:38 AM by FlashHarry
Only the Swiss...

Click here for the story in the Tribune de Genève. (On edit: scroll about 3/4 of the way down.)

<snip>
Twelve male and female assistants were being specially trained: "to help physically or mentally handicapped patients better fulfill their sexual fantasies. Services included massage and erotic games but not sexual relations. Pro Infirmis said it would continue to try to address the issue and intends to find legally recognized and independent support for the project.

1. The British too!
There was some show (maybe on PBS) a few years ago about a woman who ran a "dating service" for the handicapped, mainly trying to find partners for them and offer advice, etc. as to how they could still enjoy sex.

Good for her!

4. Oh... Here in Holland
It even get's a little wilder.

Imagine this happening anywhere in America?

Disabled man can't find a willing prostitute

A disabled Dutch man who is allowed to claim a monthly sex allowance can't find a willing prostitute.

He should be reimbursed by his council for any money he spends on sex workers.

But he says he can't find a prostitute who will give him a receipt.

The man said the prostitutes are worried about declaring taxable income to the government according to De Telegraaf news paper.

The man fought a seven-year battle to win a 1997 court ruling and is allowed to claim a maximum of £100 a month.

He said visiting a prostitute means he has to use less medicine and that each visit gives him peace and rest.

11. I can just see how they'd screw it up in this country...
If you have an HMO, you get a blow-up doll w/a leak in it.

If you have Blue Cross, you get one of Las Vegas' finest...

Government allowance to buy Pussy....Geez, this is a backwards country, this Murka!

12. Well, the U.S. wouldn't have to pay a sex allowance.
But it could be made eligible as a medical expense for income tax purposes. ;-)

10. that's not the issue
But not here in America. Can't have that. No, no, no...those handicapped people don't deserve to have sex or anything.

cmon, you know that's not the issue (being handicapped). in America the idea of any kind of sex subsidy for any group (not just handicapped people) would be laughed out of the legislature. it's not something that the government has any business subsidizing. the government has no business in our bedrooms, or motel rooms. the philosophy cuts both ways.

another point is that in America a huge fraction of the population does not even have health insurance... handicapped or not.

13. Oddly enough, if you're handicapped
by being unable to get an erection, just watch the doctors and insurance companies rushing to help you have better sex.

6. Sex is a part of our lifes
This country is so behind the times. 'Tis indeed hard to find anything one would like about the so-called Christianize folks
in this fucked up society.
