Bush Seeks Funds For Abstinence Education
Mark Sherman - Associated Press

WASHINGTON - President Bush's re-election insures that more federal money will flow to abstinence education that precludes discussion of birth control, even as the administration awaits evidence that the approach gets kids to refrain from sex.

Congress last weekend included more than $131 million for abstinence programs in a $388 billion spending bill, an increase of $30 million but about $100 million less than Bush requested. Meanwhile, a national evaluation of abstinence programs has been delayed, with a final report not expected until 2006.

Ten state evaluations, compiled by a group that opposes abstinence-only education, showed little change in teens' behavior since the start of abstinence programs in 1997.

You can only wonder how many kids will accept abstinence advice from the guy who has fucked the entire world.

7. Those of us who were in school in 80s
OK ladies, remember what they taught you in health class. Put a penny between your legs when you go out on a date and better not let it drop. If I remember correctly I think us guys had to take a cold shower (kind of hard in the middle of a date). And the good news is we can pass on all these wonderful lessons to our children. Even better our children will get to learn the new ABCs of sex.

A = Always practice Abstinence
B = Be faithful to each other
C = If your urges are too strong, use a Condom.

On a serious note, I guess we can look forward to the rise of teen pregnancies again, especially in the Moral Red States. I think he really needs to talk to his kids about the truth of teen sex. My cousin went to the same high school as the B* twins when he was Gov in Texas. He was asked to tutor them in math. Lets say, they would have failed on the ABC method. IF B* CAN"T KEEP HIS OWN KIDS FROM HAVING TEEN SEX, HOW IN THE HELL DOES HE THINK ABSTINENCE EDUCATION KEEP OTHER TEENS FROM HAVING SEX.

8. when will this President
join the real world and see that abstinence never worked and never will. Kids have to be taught birth control and AIDS, because we know they are still going to do it.

Bush needs to come out of the Old West world and leave those ways behind. His cowboy tactics are getting pretty old, if you ask me!

9. Most telling line in this article
points out that the national evaluation of these programs is being delayed, with a final report due in 2006. They know it doesn't work, and they are trying to find a way to spin it positively. They have two more years to try and skew the information. What horseshit.

10. Just Say No - Part Deux?
The president has been a strong proponent of school-based sexual education that focuses on abstinence, but does not include instruction on safe sex.

:wtf: no safe sex education?

Advocating abstinence for teens is a good thing but they have to face reality and realize that not every teen is going to abstain, hence the need for birth control and safe sex education in addition to the abstinence talk. This policy is completely irresponsible and blatantly ignores a huge problem.

One more round of letters and phone calls for me on this one. I can't believe the amount of damage these jerks are doing in just 24 days...what will we have left in 4 years?

Good Lord! What the hell is wrong with these people?

11. Advocating abstinence will fail
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 12:36 AM by sushi
if not accompanied by the cancelling of sexy magazines, books, movies, clothes, make-up, advertising, the opposite sex, and all the other sexy things around. Why not just announce a Taliban style society. Boys grow a goatee, girls cover up the hair and wear the veil. Those who still do it without government or church permission (that piece of paper) get shot!

12. Hence:
The goal is to assure that the masses will produce more fodder and peons for the corpocracy and military-industrial machines.

They may not be assured of getting a decent education, but no child will be left behind! In fact, they will be yoked as slaves to the front of the "freedom march" in order to pull the Chimperor's royal platform into infamy.
