Reminder: The Truth started to become known November 2, 2004.

November 2, 2004 was a day that will forever remain "frozen" in time. Perhaps it was frozen for the high mood in the world, and then the low mood that soon followed. Perhaps it was frozen because there was more than a thousand articles that shortly came out afterward trying to explain or give some sort of label to that mood.

But whatever the case, it was the day John Kerry stood up with thousands of others across the country and declared a new movement in America.

What happened that day was also very interesting. John Kerry made a powerful speech about how "America was going the wrong direction" and this could be the last time to change course. It was so memorable, even his strongest detractors stood up in pause at those words.

But did America know at the time what those words meant? No, collectively as a conscious voice America did not know. We all were in a war. Some suspected it was for the wrong reasons, and things were going badly. Some suspected that there was something wrong in the country, and couldn't put a finger on it. Slowly by standing up in the streets America realized what that might be.

On the other side of this, John Kerry himself knew why the nation was on a wrong track. He knew that what was wrong with the war and everything else, is that it was illegal. He felt it and the clarity of the matter possibly came from his overseas trip and his close bond with Joe Wilson and other CIA specialists.

But Kerry didn't want to put his finger directly on something, because he knew it would shock most americans. He knew very well at the time that members of the government had committed treason, and in the midst of all the smoke he wished to be president in order to hold those who broke the law accountable.

But Bush Incorporated was very angry at Kerry because they feared the accountability that would be brought, if the country was under him. They labeled him a traitor, they tarred and feathered his very name and projected all that they actually are onto him. America was not awake at the time and fully realized this.

They were so enraged with Kerry that he was sacraficed before the whole country as the ultimate communist. You could hear it in rallies all through the country, before the fateful hour on November 2 and before all of the final results were in.

But in spite of this, republicans and others came out in droves, convinced that the world would turn somehow better, and correct its course from heading towards ruin. Without being able to put the finger on it, men and women lined up trusting this man with their future.

Kerry at the time may have thought he was fighting political opponents, never dreaming he was actually fighting the new fascism. But the feeling likely started resonating in his gut.

And so history went on as it always does, and on November 2 we saw Kerry was winning. He was to be president, at midnight and after when all the returns kept coming in. But something happened, on national television, suddenly the media started reporting something else. Suddenly numbers began to reverse themselves.

Karl Rove and a White House aide stood up and said that moral values had won, and that Bush had won the presidency. Earlier before this it is now known that Bush asked if he would win and Karl wasn't sure, but promised to make it happen. A make it happen by any means neccesary as we watched the final exit polls.

http://www.exitpollz.org/cnn2004epolls/Pres_epolls/US/P/00/epolls.0.html

Ironically as the cheers grew louder, the cold truth started coming in. Bush had tripled the get out of the vote effort, and moral values had "won". He would be president. By any means neccesary, Rove said, because that was the only thing that allowed the 2002 Congress to vote for the war. By any means neccesary, they would take their seats. Because Rove and his aide knew the war was illegal and there was trouble brewing, if Bush did not win.

We may never know the full story of what Bush knew and when he knew it. He was assured he'd win, perhaps even if ignorant of the selection taking place. But one thing is for certain, America knew alltogether that something had happened.

Low pains and sadness came to phase all through-out the states, and no one understood. Until they started looking, feeling, seeing and knowing that> The men in office had to win no matter what, and had to cheat and selectively take control of democracy.

The horrifying truth of fascism came as a shock to all, because they couldn't understand how. Why could this happen, why now? Why would they stoop to this low? Why would they increase their margins by 30%(being really nice)using machines in order to get their plans?

The actions spoke louder than words, and collectively, of what little the people knew they knew fraud was wrong. Bush finally figured out that "dirty tricks" gave him his victory, so immediately following the "frivilous" selection challenge he appointed a man to be head of the justice department.

That man was Attorney Alberto Gonzales. Bush had finally had it with interference, and wanted all election fraud or prisoner abuse scandals to be handled by the insane Alberto rather than cause him trouble.

And so it was done after a fight in the senate. And so the american people would find out, a long time later, what really happened.

http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00001512.htm

But when it came out and the truth became more depressing, Alberto and his minions made it look like their fault. He laughed and praised his managers for the great analysis and project.

By this time Mr. Kerry had moved on, realizing he could not fight this after receiving bad advice from his aides. But the truth would still come to light regardless.

Before the coup was complete, and the Bush admin had ensured there would be no further inquiries, the truth came screaming out of the U.K. and Joseph Wilson was back from the dead.

A story thought to have been killed became headline news. The Downing Street Minutes confirmed what some men like Kerry already knew: And what came as a huge wakeup call and absolute disaster to everyone else in america including many of us.

Earlier than the discovery of DSM, Senator Frist knew that with the problems surrounding the stealing of actual government seats that dissent must be silenced. He waged war on the fillibuster and under threat of Cheney, almost silenced dissent once and for all.

But even with all these bygones, the explosion of the DSM told the truth. A leadership who had engaged in an illegal war and manufactured all the evidence. And the truth came out, about why Rove and his aides knew the election had to be secured. The treason that was done in this country could not be ignored, even by the most extreme of the CIA and what he had done to cover it up was actually that of a Joseph Stalin.

Rove was so angered he lashed out at the americans abroad, calling them traitors and for letting the terrorists get away on 9/11. He knew and he projected his hate. Rove was the traitor, and that is why he allowed the crimes. In order to protect himself and others from prosecution.

But Kerry and others in the senate knew that it would eventually come out. When the americans realized that this was the horrible truth, and that treason had been committed, they finally figured out the answer to the ultimate November question, and why the nation was asked to change course.

Why did they have to steal an election and plunder the nation down in blatant hate? Because those in power had to protect themselves, and they knew that their crimes were great. It was a sad day to realize in america.

But just remember, it started on November 2, 2004: The awakening.

11. Excellent writing
but I'm just a bit curious - Why do you not capitalize the word America or Americans?

Is there some significance for that?

2. Wow, Lightningflash, this is a beautiful piece of writing! It moved me
deeply. You have touched upon the heart of all--how much we all yearned for change, and for decency and honesty in our government, how hard we fought, and how terrible it was to have that hope so brutally taken away; and yet, it was the beginning of an awakening.

Three cheers for you! I'm recommending it for the greatest page. This is great Fourth of July memorandum to our awakening country!

3. Thank you, lightning
for such a great post. My life changed November 3rd, I didn't quite realize how much at the time tho. I have never bothered with politics before, I always seemed to have other stuff going on and just didn't "get" it. I found Democratic Underground on the 3rd and I have been reading and learning everything and anything that my brain can take in. Although my post count is very low I do share whatever I can with anyone that will listen. I'm so grateful you are all here.

What Rove did is a crime that can not be exscused, and will never be forgotten. The full history of the 2000 recount and anything else Rove was involved in was small and un-comparable when shown beside this.

Rove knows that he committed overseeing the election fraud, and making sure it happened no matter what. He knows that that is what he lives with. He will take it to his actual death-bed and beyond, that he betrayed America for his own gain.

Even if Karl feels the overwhelming guilt and can't escape from the fact America knows what he did, he will be untouched, but there will come a time where I see the man subpoenaed before a Grand Jury. Not under the assumption of treason or betraying the government, but on the crime he collectively made happen on November 2 in 2004.

He will have to tell the truth then and be forced to account for his crimes in betraying the people, because of how evil it was. Karma that heavy will never be shaken off. It will carry with him for the rest of the days, even stronger than those he pledges for.

7. Welcome aboard
The 2004 election stunned us all. Here's a link to a thread that showed how CNN assisted this administration's gaming of the election. I was disappointed that Kerry didn't fight this, but, in retrospect, I wonder if the fact that he would have had the same Republican Congress, bitter and looking to scapegoat a Democratic President for the problems they have created, may have factored into his decision? How could Kerry govern if he was exposing the Republican fraud? I suspect we'd be seeing the Clintonization of Kerry right now...there'd be a 1/2 dozen House/Senate investigations underway to impeach him for whatever lies the RW smear machine could think up.

In a perverse way, Bush deserves to reap what he has sowed. He won the 1st election by cheating, he deserves to preside over the disintegration of the Republican Party as the vast majority of Americans begin to understand the true depths of this Party's corruptness. There's no one else to blame now.

8. Welcome to DU
Shanine...it's good you made it here. If only others who hadn't realized how important this all is would make the same connection.

Politics are complex, convoluted, and full of so much spin it often makes OUR brains hurt. But if someone doesn't pay attention and try to get the truth out there, we're all in deep trouble.

9. That's right. November 2, 2004 was the day of awakening...
Edited on Sun Jul-03-05 02:00 PM by Ojai Person
for some, it has taken longer to awaken to the very painful truth that our democracy has been corrupted and stolen. But November 2 is the day when that truth was forever struck in history.

And Rove was so obviously at the center of it all.

I can't wait until they subpoena phone records from THAT night.
