Poll question: 9-11 was...
Cliches about 9-11 abound, like how America was changed forever on that day, etc. so,

9-11 was...

1. I would like to choose many of the above
but believe in the one vote principle.

2. Know what you mean
I subscribe to the LIHOP theory, but I also think they have exploited it shamelessly, and that airport security is ridiculous (and our nuke plants are practically defenseless!)

I doubt Bush himself knows anything about the LIHOP thing though. What a maroon.

4. good poll.....I hope this stay's visible
You might ask the moderators to move into the 9/11 forum where the visibility should be better....the lifespan in GD is quite short.

LIHOP, for sure with elements of MIHOP

5. As much as I hate Bush...
I just don't believe he knew/caused 9/11.
That is not his crime. His crime, though, is exploiting it to sickening levels that to this day makes me hang my head and appoligize to the citizens of this world for having him saber rattle and threaten leaders abroad.

6. Bushco turned off heat on Osama prior to 9-11
See www.gregpalast.com

He didn't plan it and may not have known it was coming but he sure enabled it.

8. I know...he also nixed several airport security bills...
...but I think to blame him for 9/11 is still going too far. And if the Dems say that, they are toast in the election of 2004.
But yes, he didn't do a whole lot to prevent 9/11 either...

12. His behavior before, during, and after
Edited on Tue Jul-08-03 02:25 AM by Sick of Bullshit
all suggests that he knew something

Before: Tells FBI to cool it on their investigation of bin Ladens
Ignores warnings from major intelligence agencies, both domestic and foreign

During:
Continued to the shool even after being informed of the first WTC hit (and presumably, the hijacking warnings)
Sat in the second grade classroom for 15-20 minutes and even casually picked up a textbook AFTER being told that the second plane had hit the WTC. Showed no detectable shock at the news.

After:
Stated on several occasions that he had seen the first attack LIVE on TV
Squelched official investigation of 9-11 (even personally pressuring Tom Daschle to back off)
Allowed bin Laden family to leave the country while hundreds of Arabs were being rounded up and held incognito
Pushed thrugh 800-page "PATRIOT" Act just weeks after attacks, and in the midst of the anthrax scare (which conveniently only targeted two important Democrats and some media types)
Rushed into a war with Afghanistan that had been on the drawing boards for several years
Lied about his behavior and actions of that fateful day
Has used it as a pretext to stifle dissent, squelch liberties, and start other wars

15. And what about all those CEOs waiting for him
at that secure Nebraska Airbase? Why has no CEO been asked to explain their presence there? That is a fact which defies the "we knew nothing" excuse.

7. Well, he lied to get us into war with Iraq.
Thousands of Iraqi's died and 200 Amnericans so far. Why is it so hard to believe that they wouldn't capitalize on "insider" information regarding an attack?...particularly in light of the Taliban pipeline discussions and the PNAC declaration that American public opinion would need a "Pearl Harbor" type event to provide the catalyst to embark on their fanciful dreams of a new American imperialism?

I'm not saying they necessarily knew the final outcome of 9/11 would play out the way it did, but I have no doubts that a made-for-TV hi-jacking event would have been allowed to occur to get their PNAC plan underway. I think even the JCS/AF bought into it.....generals telling the American people that fighters reacted "like scalded apes" when they were actual flying at 1/4 top speed based on their actual time to target tells me they were in on the LIHOP plan.

9. I believe that they expected an attack and stood down
but I don't think they expected a disaster of this scale. Maybe a cessna in a tower to get some headlines. These guys have very conventional values, and would draw the line at something that big. It stands to reason that the intel was sketchy.

Little did they know it would be truly spectacular and enable their Nazi onslaught.

11. Who would call such a catastrophe "lucky"?
"Bush, in the weeks before September 11, pledged to honor the sanctity of the Social Security lockbox except in the event of recession, war, or a national emergency. But after "everything changed" on 9/11, he reportedly gloated to his budget director, Mitch Daniels, "Lucky me--I hit the trifecta!" At the time, this comment (a variation of which is being recycled for laughs at current GOP fundraisers) seemed merely offensive. But in light of revelations that Bush's August 6 briefing memo was titled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike U.S.," Bush's "luck" and weird prescience are worth more than passing scrutiny. "

14. It was premeditated the whole way.
America has become very proficient at helping and inviting attacks on itself for political purposes. 911 was a huge one. The LIHOP people kill me. In the context on 911, there can't be a LIHOP without MIHOP. Don't you understand? Have we forgotten that we train all the "terrorists" who later become our "enemies"? We show them the open doors, and we leave those doors open for them. Classic MIHOP which passes itself off as LIHOP. Why do people think that LIHOP is such a lesser offense than MIHOP?

It's just harder to prove, assuming there is evidence.

CIA and FBI Black Op/BFEE all the way.

Remember how the Northern Alliance General was assassinated the day before 9/11? The CIA HATED him and would not work with him, he was considered to be too independant by the CIA. They killed him and got him out of the way before they did 911 and started their pre-planned invasion of Afghanistan.

Killed by agents of Bin Laden! HA! General Mahmoud (sp?) was so wily and so used to the Taliba/Osama tricks there is no way he would have met ANYONE that he wasn't 100% sure was not connected to them. I saw an interview with him done in the late 80's (where it was noted how bad the CIA HATED his guts) and that white, western journalist was shuttled around for a week before he finally got to meet the general and interview him.

His assassination was another Black Op.

Edit: his name was Massood. Close to Mahmoud anyway!

18. another possible clue to LIHOP
My choice, the second, since it matches to a tee the coverup over the WMD fudging. They were going after Hussein years ago. Cheney had been scouting with Haliburton in Iraq. The setup. Powell in 2001 says santions do not work and should be lifted.

With little provocation they ruthlessly bomb Iraq and deal with the Taliban. So, instead of springing one trap(lifting sanctions and catching Saddam rebuilding), they stir up the hornets and give plausibility to the theory that Hussein would want a revenge attack(a la Khaddaffy)when something from AL QAEDA turns up. Hey, anyone, "Bring it on! My polls are slipping!!!" They are still begging for someone to kill us.

It is so baldly consistent no one can believe their own ears.

In fact, the AlQaeda attack had an Iraqi suggestion component all along. The anniversary date of the Gulf War victory speech of Bush I, the stubborn insistence on an anthrax connection after everyone saw instead it was AlQaeda on 911. Typical Bush crap planning or lack thereof as also seen in the aftermath of the Iraq war II especially. They were almost gleeful that the attacks were so terrible they could simply bull ahead with their agenda REGARDLESS of any evidence whatosever! Also consistent with the WMD scandal.

Of course, it would be nice to get real evidence. Meanwhile, every suspicion and theory is fairplay so long as they coverup.

Every disaster for America is a source of profit for *. And he loves it. So long as the power of America stays intact.
