Now, let me tell you, I write press releases (among other PR stuff) and plan media relations and publicity campaigns for a living. Generally speaking, we put our firm's name, as well as our client's name, on releases as a contact.

Good God, I hope this doesn't mean that CRC's got their hands on LexisNexis, which is an incredibly useful research tool that millions use (I think it's millions...). I hope I hope I hope I'm wrong. Somebody tell me I'm wrong.

Quick google revealed this court case, which in part says:

The Respondent registered the domain names primarily for the purpose of disrupting the business of its competitor. Policy ? 4(b)(iii). See Fossil Inc. v. NAS, FA 92525 (Nat. Arb. Forum Feb. 23, 2000) (finding that the Respondent acted in bad faith by registering the domain name <fossilwatch.com> and using it to sell various watch brands). The Respondent obviously knew of the Complainantís mark given the competitive nature of the two businesses. See America Online, Inc. v. Avrasya Yayincilik Danismanlik Ltd., FA 93679 (Nat. Arb. News stories yesterday reported that veteran Republican strategist Peter Robbio of Manchester had been replaced as Steve Forbes' state director, but he would still work for the Presidential campaign as a volunteer.

It has now been learned that Robbio was arrested shortly before midnight on Friday, April 16, after allegedly brandishing a loaded handgun at the popular Black Brimmer restaurant in downtown Manchester.

In an arrest affidavit, Manchester Police Officer James Ahern said that while working a security detail at the crowded nightspot, he was approached by one Raul Gonzalez, who told him that "a subject just pulled a gun on him and threatened him with it . . . Gonzalez told Ahern that the man "walked slowly away approx. 6-10 feet never taking his eyes off Mr. Gonzalez, he then reached inside his jacket and pulled out (a) small dark handgun and held it up to his right shoulder."

Here's some info about both companies. There might be some overlap? All I know is the Roger Stone is in here some where.



McCarty revealed during the FEC hearings that she was recruited by top Republicans on the morning after the Nov. 7 election to oversee the ballot recount in Palm Beach County. McCarty also testified that Stone called her at home between Nov. 13 and Nov. 16 and told her he was forming a committee "for the purposes of taking action against the Florida Supreme Court," and she agreed to participate, according to the Broward Daily Business Review.

"He explained to me that people were very, very upset with the way the Florida Supreme Court was conducting itself, and that in Florida we have a merit retention system," McCarty said.

But what Stone did not explain -- and still has not to this day -- is who instructed him to create the committee and who donated the $150,000.

According to press reports, committee campaign records listed the $150,000 as a "loan" from Creative Marketing in Alexandria, Va., which doesn’t exist, though it does share the same mailing address as the Stone Group, a fundraising and marketing firm run by Republican activist Ann Stone, Roger’s ex-wife.

Stranger still, according to the Broward Daily Business Review reporter Dan Christensen, state Administrative Law Judge Harry L. Hooper, determined that "Stone ‘or his organization’ actually paid the $150,000 not to Creative Marketing but to a Virginia company called Unique Graphics and Design, which, according to Virginia state corporate records, had as its principals Ann Stone and Lora Lynn Jones. The committee subsequently paid Unique Graphics an additional $50,000 in May 2001 for purposes that remain unclear."

"Neither Hooper nor the FEC determined why the committee listed Creative Marketing rather than Unique Graphics as the recipient of the payments," Christensen wrote July 9.

He was Pat Buchanan's communications director in the 1992 presidential campaign.

He did PR work for Gary Aldrich's smear-fest against Clinton ("Unlimited Access") and for its publisher, Regnery.

He was a top advisor for Steve Forbes in the 2000 campaign.

Creative Response Concepts was the PR firm for the SwiftBoaties.

It was also recently working for Viktor Yanukovych, former prime minister of Ukraine.

Craig Shirley was the producer of the notorious Willie Horton ad in 1988 and was a publicist last fall for "Stolen Honor." In between, he, like Mueller, represented Gary Aldrich. Christian Voice and the American Freedom Coalition (AFC) were both closely connected with Reverend Moon.

Whatever the exact nature of the dirty-tricks and smear-job operation that has been going on on the right, Mueller and Creative Response Concepts are likely to be very close to the heart of it.

The CRC and its employees are extreme wingers. They're behind the swift boat stuff. They seem to be behind the Rathergate stuff. They seem to be using bloggers as a way of marketing right wing causes. I believe that LexisNexis is a client, and I doubt that LN could NOT know who they were getting in bed with. That would seem to indicate that this widely used service--one upon which many researchers depend--is at least sympathetic to extreme RW sentiments.

When I looked at more specific releases with the CRC contacts, they seem to all be about LN products that involve deep databases (even one product that marries consumer info to GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION for more effective skip tracing...yeah, that's it... "skip tracing").

You want a Ministry of Propaganda? CRC seems to be it. And they're spreading their influence insidiously and surely. Pretty soon, I fear, the truth *won't* be out there 'cause they'll have erased it. Breaks this poor ol' conspiracy nut's heart, I tell ya!

I think that maybe maybe maybe Gannon ties in through the Rathergate thing, which other threads are looking at.

I didn't really have a "narrative" in mind.. someone on another thread just said, hey, let's look into CRC and I found this stuff. I posted as I found it, and I'm only now starting to draw conclusions. I'd certainly appreciate any other thoughts on this!

The pledge by Commissioner Bonner to test the PFNA neutron scanning device at a US border crossing is significant in that now two federal agencies, the US Customs Service and the Department of Defense, have each earmarked $5 million for operational field tests of the PFNA inspection system.

As I'm looking at all these "organizations" CRC reps, I realize what they're doing. They have some big fish clients, like Visa and Microsoft (ugh, worse than I thought), but then they've created dozens of right wing cause-oriented organizations.

I know this is how PR agencies work, since the one I work for has been advised to do the same kind of thing by experts, but we haven't done it (yet). The "organization" is pretty much bogus; you print up some letterhead, have your PR agency be the contact (since it's really the agency anyway), have a spokesperson, and bing! you've got press!

For instance, let's say your agency has a client ABC Baby Food. You create for them, then, the National Council on Pediatric Nutrition. You put out press releases under this bogus Council's letterhead, listing the agency as contact, then you arrange interviews for the Council's "founding member"--i.e., your client. Your client looks like an expert, the a special organization lends your cause an air of authority, and releases don't look like marketing materials from ABC Baby Food, even though they really are.

So far from what I'm seeing, I get the feeling that the main client for all these little orgs is CRC or MRC. My guess is that I'm going to find that CRC or MRC regularly creates "bloggers" or forums that are a similar bogus front for the agency itself. I'm already picking up that PR agencies are being advised to court bloggers...it's only a matter of time.

As the controversy over Bush's military record builds, a right-wing firm that works for the RNC pitches in.

Creative Response Concepts, the Arlington, Va., Republican public relations firm run by former Pat Buchanan communications director Greg Mueller, with help from former Pat Robertson communications director Mike Russell, sent out a media advisory Thursday to hawk a right-wing news dispatch: "60 Minutes' Documents on Bush Might Be Fake." Creative Response Concepts has played a crucial role in hyping the inaccurate, secondhand Swift Boat allegations, with Russell serving as the group's official spokesman. A company spokesman could not be reached for comment.

Throughout the Swift Boat smear campaign, the veterans involved asserted they had no political agenda and were unaffiliated with any political party. But Creative Response Concepts, which was obviously paid some undisclosed amount for its Swift Boat work, has many links to the Republican Party and the conservative movement. Among its clients are the Republican National Committee, National Republican Congressional Committee and National Republican Senatorial Committee. Its client list also includes the Christian Coalition, National Taxpayers Union, Media Research Council and Regnery Publishing. Regnery is the firm that published "Unfit for Command," the SBVT screed against Kerry's military record.

Now Creative Response is working the case against CBS's "60 Minutes" report on Bush's questionable service in the Texas Air National Guard. The program included the first-ever interview with former Texas Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes on how he secured preferential treatment for the young George Bush in entering the Texas Air National Guard to avoid service in Vietnam. It also featured never-before-seen personal memos written by one of Bush's immediate commanders at the time, Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, who expressed concern and frustration over Bush's refusal to obey a direct order and fulfill his military commitment.

Bartlett attacked Barnes as politically motivated, but did not challenge the veracity of his account. Conservative operatives immediately alleged that Killian's memos were forged, posting their charges on the Internet while the CBS broadcast was still in progress. They claim that the memos were faked using modern word-processing equipment, and were not produced with typewriters common from the Vietnam era.

the tough thing is... all these people seem to always be running in the same circles. they all know each other. they all do business with each other. they all destroy things together. they work in concert. it's so tangled up that it's hard to tease out one strand of info so that you can say YES! THIS PROVES IT!

I find it interesting that many of these folks play and/or coach lacrosse; i'd have to go back through this huge list of links that I haven't put up here because they're about people's personal lives (people who may or may not be the people under discussion here). There seem to be a lot of Catholics and Irish Catholics among them, as well, which I wouldn't have thought. i'd have thought it more likely they'd be of an evangelical protestant persuasion of one sort or another. the irish thing came up completely unexpectedly, and again, i wouldn't put the links up here. these are just a few among the many odd "coincidences" i see pop up again and again and again.
