And I find that to be an insult. (I can't cut and paste, but I believe the OP said something like "I will have to lower myself to taking a temp job.") (On edit, the exact quote is ". . . it looks as though I will have to lower myself and take a job through a temp agency.")

I worked as a temp off and on for over 20 years in the Phoenix area. Some of the jobs were so terrible I could see why the employers couldn't hire full-time people. But for the most part, they were decent positions with decent pay. On three of the jobs I worked six months or more as "not a real person" -- a term used with humor and, I might add, affection. At two of them I eventually signed on as a permanent full-time employee, and was subsequently treated like shit. The third I refused to convert to being on their payroll despite numerous pleas, and when I finally left after almost a year, they threw a huge going away party for me.

The fact that the OP has been unemployed for an extended period and is just now "lowering" him/herself to temp work is something I find personally insulting. I could have let it go, but I chose not to.
