5. Reports were there last night, but scrubbed now
from the front pages of local SFGate, which had a story on Wisconsin's activities w/100K yesterday and then had photos of rallies around the country, with about half of them from the SF rally. I was there, the weather was sunny, bright and cold for SF, but there were about 3,000 people there, very spirited, very vocal. That rally started at noon, with only 48 hours' notice. I greeted several people just arriving at 1PM when this SF rally was ending. Across the street the Libyan rally began at 1PM and many just crossed the street. Cops at Wisconsin rally = 0. Cops at Libyan rally? that had only about 100 people when I drove past it, many cops present, on foot, on cycle, on horses. Almost as many cops as demoonstrators. I saw 0 teabaggers at the spirited Wisconsin rally of all ages, all unions and some great signs. I took some photos but have not run them to get .jpg images yet, nor do I know how to load them here. I got a laugh when I walked past the line for the one porta-potty there, "Looks like we have more in line for the john than the baggers get for their whole rallies." The irony was to see several hoomeless people sleeping in bags around the grassy areas on the perimeter of the plaza. No police presence except at the crosswalk going across to City Hall. You have to know that police and fire in SF are extremely pro-union, and many were in attendance out of uniform.

Some signs: "Chop at the Top," with a scissors graphic over the BofA logo. "Bankrupting America," done up like the BofA logo. "CA Badgers Support WI Unions." "Fox News Will Lie About This." "These Boots Are Made For Walker," T-shirt on a gal that said she was at some convention this week with WI Union supporters and snagged it. "Our Country Is Filthy With Koch Droppings," over a cockroach logo crawling across the top of the WI Capitol building. "Excess of Liberty seems only to pass into Excess of Slavery-Plato, Save the Middle Class, save the real American Dream: The Pursuit of Happiness for all." "Hitler Banned Unions in 1933." "Republicans think Egypt can't happen here are in De-Nile." and my favorite on a Wisconsin native I had a nice talk with, his T-shirt "Fuck 'em Bucky."

As for the TV, I watched KTVU last night and they had a reporter that had been there do a 2-minute voice-over video report with the crowd in the background and one of the rally's speakers (really great chant leader) was interviewed. I looked at pics from all around the country, and man, some folks really deserve a lot of credit for turning out in very harsh winter conditions. KUDOS to all in solidarity that came out yesterday, all over the country.

All stories are scrubbed as of this morning. Got to get those Oscars out you know.

United we stand

Divided we fall.
