What about starting our own HuffPo-type community blog network?

I'm a dreamer and a doer. But I need others to join me, those of like mind and like heart.

DU is the primary community to which I belong, so you guys are my "go to" peeps. And so many are simply brilliant.

I've had an idea in the back of my mind for the last year, an offshoot of Wishadoo! (there are many cooperative-type initiatives I have in mind to emerge from the foundation that is Wishadoo!), and I found a good programming platform to get it started.

The idea is a grassroots blog network that is member owned. Local people write about what is going on in their communities -- the good (I really want to focus on this), the bad and the ugly. But if something is written about that needs fixed or needs to change, we address the DOING via the Wishadoo! Community area and the tools there. Brainstorm about how to change things for the better of the community then DO SOMETHING.

All very grassroots.

Kind of like Wishadoo's Wishlist is known as "a craigslist of compassion," this blog network is a "HuffPo of true community and compassion."

HuffPo has largely become something many of us don't care for, for many reasons, especially with the recent merger with AOL.

I saw Arianna on Bill Maher Friday night and she mentioned a project I'd never heard of before:

This is very much in alignment with the idea I've had for a grassroots blog network. But by working with the Wishadoo! Community and the tools there, there is more potential to engage about whatever is being written and change things for the better of the community.

Normally I would consider working WITH this initiative, but I just don't have a good feeling for any integrity within AOL and HuffPo.

Many of you know I'm enamored of cooperative enterprises and feel it's the way of the future -- and the future is NOW. Member-owned, worker-owned benefit (two words that made Glenn Beck come after Wishadoo!).

I'm working hard to get the NEW WISHADOO! COMMUNITY up and running and ready to fully launch for the first time (I've gotten close before -- and people have already found help they needed at Wishadoo! -- but programmers would disappear and I'd be left hanging). Be kind, I'm letting the cat out of the bag a bit early but need to ask for DUers' help in many ways via the focus group.

PLEASE, if anyone is interested in this blog network idea and/or being part of a focus group to help make Wishadoo! as beneficial to as many as possible, I'd be most grateful if you'd contact me.

Thanks! :hi:
