There is more to being a Democrat than putting a (D) by your name, and talking about how great they are--you've got to actually hold some democratic values, bringing manufacturing home, better wages for the lower half, and a general concern for the welfare of people outside of the millionaire class.

This is something Republicans realize. It's a big F-ing tug-of-war. If you aren't pulling, if you don't have people out on the left pulling back, then you either stay put, or when they are surging, you get pulled to the right. You will never, ever, move a little to the left, by always straddling the fence.

So yes, we prefer democrats to republicans, but we want our democrats to act like, um...democrats, and when they don't we're not going to slavishly worhsip them, we're going to call them to task.
