And I mean those making over $250K a year, as Obama promised in 2008, not only those making one million or more a year, a capitulation, er, I mean, a ompromise, that Schumer said in 2010 that the Senate had once been working on.

I'm so happy that I won't even say something about being close to election day and how the bill will die in the house anyway.

My position has always been that we should get people, both Democrats and Republicans, on record and I am happy about this vote.

Meanwhile, the article says that the nation is deeply divided over this. I could swear that, a year or two ago, something like 70% of Americans favored the Democratic position on continuing tax cuts for everyone but the rich.

How do we let this happen, time after time--start out with the public overwhelmingly on our side, and let that go?

For example, Republicans have been making the rounds of the TV talk shows, lobbying against defense cuts in the sequester. Anyone seen any Democrats making the rounds, lobbying against the cuts to social programs in the sequester?

And don't even get me started on the "sliver."
