equal pay, and excellent access to education. It makes you wonder what we are really doing. Is it just stupidity or by design, that everywhere we go we reduce women to medieval status.

Including Afghanistan, where they used women to get support for that war in this country. Even here on DU several years ago, I was attacked by about four women for saying that the women of Afghanistan were worse off after we invaded them than they were before. I mean I was quoting the women themselves who actually live there. But a few people here told me that if we left, they would lose all the rights we had given them. I gave up after that, because it only confirmed what the women of Afghanistan said, that 'no one listens to them' in the West, and it shows how effective propaganda is, even on the left.
