How's this for a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week? My little dog has liver cancer and

Gallbladder blockage (they think it's blocked because a bio-acid test was very high) and in order to have her completely diagnosed, we'd have to do another $350.00 ultrasound (we've done 3 already and the last one was in June). If the ultrasound found a growth on her liver, we would have to go to U of I for biopsies and in order to do the biopsies, they would have to do clotting times to make sure her blood clots fast enough if they took some of her liver. The clotting time test is THOUSANDS of $$$$$$$ (so says our vet) and the biopsies are THOUSANDS of $$$$$$$$ (so says our vet) and all of that would lead to MAYBE major surgery, which is THOUSANDS of $$$$$$ or may be nothing they can do. SO, we have opted for liver meds and Gallbladder meds and are hoping for the best. The vet said a gallbladder that ruptures will be a VERY painful death after she has severe seizures. She will be 12 next month. :( I hope we're doing the right thing. She's so perky and not acting sick AT ALL. It's hard to believe she's actually dying. We found all this out because I had to take her in for a teeth cleaning because her body is allergic to the plaque on her teeth and she gets mouth ulcers. I was brushing her teeth and she flinched. I looked at the lips, and sure enough, she had ulcers again. :( Before they could put her out for the teeth cleaning, they had to make sure she was healthy enough. That's when we found out her liver and Gallbladder are bad. She also has a stage 5 heart murmur....which she has had forever. I'm so torn on what to do. She's NOT sickly. I just can't take a happy, perky dog in and let her go! I just can't do it. Yet, I would never forgive myself if her Gallbladder ruptures and she has seizures and dies in pain.

Shitty event number two:

I found out last week my brother has liver cancer. He went to Chicago yesterday to see if he could get chemo until a liver transplant is available (his ONLY alternative) and he was told there's nothing they can do because the cancer has spread throughout his entire body. He's not long for this world either and he's only 54 years old. He was a raging alcoholic in his youth, but hasn't had a drink in 20+ years. His youth caught up to him last week. We'll find out tomorrow, maybe, how long they expect him to live. I am not looking forward to that phone call.

Shitty event number 3:

Yesterday at 8:00AM, our bank called for my husband and had left a message for him on our answering machine and I forgot to tell him about it because I was busy at the time and totally forgot they had called. Well, it was a VERY important call!

Woke up this morning and received a phone call from our bank (Small Community Bank...thank G-d!) and they were questioning an IRS requested payment of $33,388.00. We don't have $33,388.00 in our account, so they were wondering what the hell was going on and THAT is why they called yesterday morning. We've banked here for the last 25 years and they know us very well. Apparently, when my husband filed his taxes via the telephone the other day, he entered $33,388.00 instead of $3,388.00! The bank paid the IRS the $33,388.00 after they didn't get a callback from my husband yesterday. The bank OFFERED to use our equity in our home to cover the $33,388.00 until the IRS returned it in 10 days (Do you think BOA would EVER offer to do that? HELL NO!). Then the President of the bank (who knows my husband well) called today and said they were going to just withdraw their payment to the IRS and just needed to send in a form to the IRS, so now my husband will only have to pay a 2% penalty for paying his taxes late (no overdraft fees)...but it beats paying $33,388.00! Tomorrow they can remove the overdraft on the account. THEN, a lady from the bank called to let my husband know that since our account is overdrawn by $33,000+, if any checks come in today or tomorrow (before the overdraft is removed) they are not charging him any overdraft fees. :) Is that kind or what? Needless to say, it's been a VERY, VERY stressful day today. THEN...

Shitty thing number 4:

About an hour ago I received a phone call from my son who is in college. His laptop crashed. He's hoping the Campus IT people will be able to help him, but that's doubtful if it was a hard drive crash. :(

Then he says, "Mom, I have some more bad news." Holy shit...NO!!!! Not anymore bad news, please?

I guess an old high school buddy was at his University a few weeks ago to spend the weekend. My son, his old friend and another young man went outside in front of the dorm to have a smoke and while they were standing there, the old high school buddy pulled out a brand new pot pipe he had just bought and the three boys were admiring it. Well, out comes the dorm RA. He had seen them on the video camera...CREEPY! He called the cops. The cops came, talked to the three boys and did nothing. No fines, no jail, no arrests, no ANYTHING. Well, I guess that wasn't good enough for the RA. He filed a formal complaint report with the University. Yesterday my son and his friend (NOT the high school friend who had and owned the pipe), who is also a student there, were told to report to the admins office. They were informed that even though the VIDEO TAPE OF THEM showed no one had been smoking pot and they were only LOOKING at the pipe, it still qualifies as the same offense. Smoking pot and having paraphernalia is the same thing ....WHO KNEW?! They were BOTH fined $150.00 each, must pay for and attend an 8 week drug course, submit to and pay for a drug test at the end of the year and they are both on University PROBATION for 1 year OR be expelled! How fucked up is THAT?! They LOOKED AT a damn pot pipe and it wasn't even theirs!
My husband called the University and left a message for a callback. I can't wait to see how this one ends. :(

There were even MORE shitty things that happened this week, but they pale in comparison to these things, so I won't bother boring you with them.

This is a week I cannot wait to end. :( It really has been a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week. :(
