WHEELING - Sen. Joe Manchin wants a review of Sen. Mitch McConnell's alleged attempt to block West Virginia University's move to the Big 12 conference.

Manchin, D-W.Va., said it appeared late Tuesday that WVU would join the Big 12 conference as its newest member, replacing the University of Missouri Tigers.

But reports surfaced Wednesday that McConnell, - a Kentucky Republican and Louisville alumnus - lobbied on behalf of his alma mater to get the Cardinals into the Big 12. A New York Times report said he spoke with former Sen. David Boren, who is president of the U niversity of Oklahoma, a Big 12 conference member.

"I'm not accusing Sen. McConnell," Manchin said Wednesday evening.
