My answers

How would you describe the current political climate? (Optional):
I would say that most people (even many on the right) are furious that no one in DC cares about the bottom 98% as much as they care about banksters and outsourcers. The vast majority prioritize jobs over deficit reduction, but the DC crowd's priorities are exactly the reverse.

What do you believe the Democratic Party stands for? (Optional):
These days, I have no idea. Democrats used to stand for helping the 98% majority and for preserving and extending the New Deal, yet the leadership of the party at best is mounting a weak defense of the lifeline programs of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and at worst joining Republicans in cutting these vital programs. Considering that 70-75% of the public (regardless of party affiliation) strongly supports these programs, our leadership seems bent on snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Why are you a Democrat? (Optional):
Because, unlike any third party I am familiar with, Democrats take elections and voter contact seriously. Unfortunately they do not take public policy benefitting the many seriously. The issues groups I belong to that do take policy seriously mostly refuse to take elections seriously. I find myself caught in the middle between these two poles, fighting many elected Democrats on issues and yet defending Democrats to issues groups.
