8. When I first heard this, the first thought that came to me
was it made no sense. Why would Obama want to do this on that night? I'm thinking, he wouldn't of course, so why did he?

And, then what happens? He takes it to America the next night just before everyone's tuning in for a big football game!

The Republicans can't complain he didn't go to the Speaker of the House to address Congress. They can't complain he took the next available night to speak to the nation.

But, they'll complain plenty about how many households will be listening.
