86. Because the game is good cop/bad cop and if the Democrats gain too much power, excuses for not
being able to pass universal single payer health coverage or at the very least a strong national public option, have the mega wealthy shoulder the brunt of balancing the budget by giving up their massive tax cuts instead of eating into the much needed social safety net, holding the previous administration accountable for its' war crimes, building the nation's infrastructure and placing a top priority on diminishing the growing threat from global warming by dramatically increasing the scale of renewable energy investments would become far more difficult.

In short you can't play good cop/bad cop if you only have good cops.
