24. If the WH insisted on the PO instead of Fighting it the HCR would be an EASY sell right now
The democrats have made it easy for the repubs to demonize HCR because well lets face it..it has some nice things but without cost control you are seeing the obvious flaw of the reform...insurers can still jack up rates since there is no competition. They are already finding loopholes in the system. If the democrats were genuinely doing it for the people and not partially making deals with insurers then this wouldnt be a hard sell right now during this campaign season...it would actually be a easy selling point to people to re-elect democrats because they fight for the people...nope. This HCR will clearly need another overhaul...and hopefully this time someone will fight for the people and at the very least insist on cost control via a Public Option or better yet, a Single Payer (which is virtually impossible). ANd for the love of gawd change that new law for Pharma patents back down to 5 years and not this appalling 12 year, and allow importing of drugs from Canada....these new laws actually hurt americans...yes there are a few nice spots but there are a lot of bad ones...it needs to be updated.
