michelle Obama and Sasha head to Spain

Michelle Obama is expected to travel to Spain next week sans her hubby, a White House official tells POLITICO.

The first lady will make the overseas trip with her younger daughter, Sasha, and some longtime family friends and without the president, the official said. (Malia, the first couple's elder daughter, is currently at away at camp.) While there she will pay an official visit to King Juan Carlos and Queen Sophia, the White House announced on Monday.

The Obamas are expected to vacation on Spain's Costa del Sol between from Aug. 4 to Aug. 8.
