The Associated Press
OLYMPIA, Wash. —

Votes continue to be counted in the close race for northwest Washington state's 2nd Congressional District seat.

The district's two largest counties - Whatcom and Snohomish - are set to post more results Saturday evening in the race between Democratic U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen and his Republican challenger John Koster.

On election night, Larsen was trailing Koster. But he took the lead on Wednesday and his margin has been growing since.

As of Friday night, Larsen had a lead of 3,872 votes, giving him about 51 percent of the vote, compared with Koster's 49 percent. Larsen is seeking his sixth term to the 2nd District, which spans the northern part of Western Washington from just north of Seattle to the border with Canada, and includes the San Juan Islands.
